Much tiredness. Postcards sent (although I think I missed one - ack!) on Friday. Car did not die on the ride home (although it did 4 times on the ride down). I missed the Pennsic Pirates meeting.

Much done, though. And I came home to a SPARKLING house! Hubby cleaned! So very happy.

Going back to bed now. More later.

So, as far as I know, the Pennsic Postmark is still available (per the site, it's still there!) Every year, Pennsic gets its own special cancellation - and it's a collector's item.

Which leads me to ask - who wants a postcard?

Leave me your address in the comments. I'll check my blog at Mystic Mail on Thursday and get all the addys and send them out.

Comments screened.
Sleeves have been attached. All I have left to do is sew up the underside of the sleeves and the side seams with the gores. It's all pinned - and I shimmied carefully into it - and it fits! Woot!

I might pull this off yet...
Why yes, I am handstitching with period seams a period dress and have just started it today. And I leave for Pennsic on Thursday.
Is it a bad sign when your cooler packing list reads:
- Bread
- Peanut Butter
- Jelly
- Cheese
- Jones Cola
- Rum
- Vodka
- Pepperoni

(I'm doing the Pennsic Yuppie Food stamps for most of my food, but this is for breakfast and snacks - well, not the rum..okay, maybe the rum too.)

I have a packing list, finally, and am amazingly already 1/2 packed. I need to buy a smaller air mattress, since Kelly-Jean and I will be sharing the pavilion and I think my queen-sized mattress will be overkill. Especially since I can get a twin-sized thick Coleman at Walmart for like $20.

I really need to make garb too. I've been procrastinating. (I know, shocking, right?) I'm going to pull the pattern out tonight and actually cut it out. Of course, I don't know what kind of fabric I really have (I have some kicking red for pants, though). I guess we'll see. :D
Well, I'm in work. Bleah. My head is pounding, my nose is stuffed and I'm almost certain my cold is turning into a sinus infection. Lovely. If I continue to blow green stuff out, I'm calling my doctor tomorrow.

However, it looks like the rumors of a shift bid are true! I just got asked by my wonderful manager what shift I would like to start 1/2/08. Keep your fingers crossed - I've asked for 8:30 - 5. Here's hoping!

I know it's way early, but are any of my SCA friends going to Pennsic next year? I've got to put in vacation in another week, and we're definitely going. [ profile] jackoutofthebox, are you guys going?

Nothing much for now. Hoping for a quiet night, so I can get some reading done.

Yes, we're home early. The weather gods were not kind this year. But Pennsic was still fun.

The Pennsic Saga of 2007 )

Some pictures later. I've got a ton of work to do on the book this weekend, so I'll be doing that. And other stuff. Did I mention I was sick?
I'm out of here at 9 pm!!!

I'm SOOOOO ready for vacation!!!

There is literally nothing more I can do to get ready for Pennsic, other than finish up some pieces of garb that I have handsewing to do on. The cooler is packed and piled with the rest of the stuff (and the packing list) out on the porch for [ profile] argus7hills to pack in the Jimmy when he gets home from work. The I/R receiver still hasn't shown up (color me shocked), so I can't type more than 70 pages in the QuickPad before I get home (or I'll have to take a day and transcribe into the laptop). Emails are sent. Addresses for postcards have been copied down.

I'm running on caffeine, but hey, nothing new on that. If all goes well, we'll be down in Butler by noon at the latest tomorrow, and onsite at Pennsic on Saturday by like 9 am. I doubt I'll be on much during the week, but I'll be on tonight until I leave work.

Everyone cross your fingers and wish that they let me out early!!!!
Leave your address in the comments below - they will be screened.

Pennsic gets their own collectible postmark every year - tres cool!
Went to the eye doctor's today, and I am now sitting in front of my computer with my first set of contacts in almost 8 years. It's very cool. I'd forgotten how clear peripheral vision looks.

Got contacts because now I'm authorized in schlager, and I'm not comfortable fencing with my glasses on. Foil/Epee shot to the face mask with glasses? No problem. Schlager shot to the face mask with glasses? Um, no. Sorry.

And my eye doctor was nice enough to give me an extra set of free contacts, just to make sure I had enough to get me through Pennsic! Yay!

So today at work, my goals are thus:

- Finish pouch for gold/blue dress
- Finish neckline for gold/blue dress
- Add trim to gold/blue dress
- Write up packing list for Pennsic
- Finish Chapter 5 of Seasons

Still no I/R receiver. *grump*

However, my new CD shipped! Got "Ireland by Sail" by Northeast Winds - LOVE this group! My folks used to take us to see Allan, Emery, Paula and Taylor when we were younger - they've since broken up, but I still have fond memories of going to outdoor concerts and hearing them. I can't wait for this to come in!

Updates later.

Well, I washed linen last night - tonight, I'll be cutting and sewing everything. I'm doing hems/necklines/trim at work - after 8 pm, the calls DIE, so I have plenty of time.

I'm even accessorizing now. I have a pouch made that matches the dress I'm hemming right now. *dies of the girlyness of it all*

More later.
So, I've got a ton of stuff to do still for Pennsic. We're not leaving until August 3rd, and I can handsew in the car on the way down (until I have to drive, of course), but there's still a ton to do.

Here's the list:

1. Make 40 sausage rolls (these will be lunch most days).
2. Make three more tunics for Argus.
3. Make three more dresses/tunics for me.
4. Find and repair my fencing doublet.
5. PACK!!!!
6. Get copies of Harry Potter on CD so we have stuff to listen to on the ride down and back.
7. Get Comicbookboard to make new cards, and restring my loom for Pennsic.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of it.

In writing news, the novel continues apace. This weekend is nonfiction as well - I need to finish the rough draft of my chapter for Guide to Magic. I also need to do some more crits for DII, go to the farmers market and clean my house.

On the upside, I got LINEN today!! And Trim! (It is an evil thing that Fabric Fix is open before I go into work.)

It's a bit big, but I can always tie the back up when I lose more weight. Blue and gold, and very nearly done. Just need to do the hem, and the neckline, and add trim. I've got black and silver trim to go on it.

Now all I need to do is make 8 more. LOL. And about 10 tunics for Argus.

How much time do we have again???

Now checking email, then writing.

No writing yet, but I slept until 2 pm, then watched the Red Sox beat the White Sox again while trying to figure out a dress pattern. I think I have one I like now, so I'll be trying a dress out in some cotton fabric to see if it works. Yay dress dummies!!!

Tonight is cookies, I think - gotta use the dough from [ profile] liamstliam that I have in my refrigerator. And laundry. And more sewing - if this pattern works, then I've got to cut a bunch more and then cut some tunics for [ profile] argus7hills for Pennsic. This week is sewing, sewing and sewing! And Writing!

More later.

Well, I'm now the proud owner of a QuickPad H45 - just picked up a used one on eBay for $17.00 (including postage). I'm still waiting to see on my NEC MobilePro, but this QuickPad looks pretty good too - 100 hours of battery life on 4 AAs, and it's pretty much like a little Alphasmart, from what I can tell. When I get it in, I'll let folks know what I think of it.

More later - gotta go make dinner so I can run down to Nashua and get my bracelet. After I get out of work, I'm picking up HP 7!!!!

And here is my prediction (no spoilers, as this is a spoiler-free zone and I haven't read any of the stuff online) for who bites it (since Jo Rowling has been saying for a year that she's killing off characters): Draco and Neville. I don't think she'll kill Harry, but she's been building Neville up. I think he dies and saves everyone.

Just my predicition. Next week, we'll see how close I was. :)
I felt like crap this morning. Headache, body ache, stomache ache, just awful. And I forgot my purse AND my notes for Seasons at work. So I took a lazy day this morning, and was very, very good to myself. A hot bath, and then a leisurely breakfast. I did some dishes, made dinner, took a shower, and then went to work.

I'm a little bummed, too (okay, not really, but a little) that my favorite purple skirt is apparently getting too big for me. It's falling down in the back - I'm going to see what I can do to take it in, because I really don't want to give it up. But a small squee of delight too! Just small, because my head really does hurt.

As [ profile] caitlindancer reminded me, there are only 6 weeks left on the annual town run. I'm really not ready for Pennsic yet, and I've discovered that somewhere in the move, the little foot (not the pedal, but the actual foot) on my sewing machine has vanished. I'll be looking for a new one tomorrow, since both Argus and I need new garb. Oh, the joys of losing weight!

Back to training now. More later.

Or, what I did on my summer vacation.... )

( Aug. 10th, 2006 02:00 pm)
Heading off to my last day of work before vacation (yay!) and just finishing up things. The living room needs to be picked up, but that's really it, and the kitchen needs to be tidied. I can do those now - once I get dressed for work.

Got another 20 pages done on Tony's book - I'm going to make a push tonight and try and finish it.

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter

My basket is packed for Pennsic - just need to drop my meds and my money in tomorrow. I've got the camera cleaned up (525 pictures - will that be enough?) and the kittens are worn out with their new toys.

Just need to call the hotel and make sure we can check in around 10 pm (shouldn't be a problem) and then go to work!

More later...
Well, today was my infusion day. The vampires had a new vampire with them - she decided to give my major vein a "rest" and try another vein.

See, it's my major vein because, well, I ONLY HAVE ONE ACCESSIBLE VEIN! My veins are very small, and very deep, and very tempermental. So after she gave me a lovely bruise on my arm (yup, blew the vein with the first flush!), she decided to admit defeat and let a more experienced vampire get the line in.

For those who don't know, I get an infusion every 8 weeks for my Crohn's disease. It's not as bad as it seems - I come in at 10 am, get hooked up to the IV, plug in Merlin and work for several hours (usually until 1-2 pm), then go to work. They feed me lunch (meatloaf with gravy, mashed potatoes and spinach - yum! And chocolate ice cream...) and I can get a lot of work done. It's a good thing.

I got about 100 pgs edited on Tony's novel, which is good, because I'd like to get that back to him before I leave for Pennsic. Unfortunately, I had a major sinus migraine yesterday (thank you, Donna!), so missed a day of work AND a day of writing. Bah.

Tonight, I'm going to go to Walmart and get the walls for the dining fly (once I head home and get my checkbook - did I mention I flew out the door this morning?) and anything else I can think that I might need.

Tomorrow is cleaning and editing and stitching together the last of Argus' tunics (two more to machine stitch, then handstitching to hem, do the collar and add trim) and packing my basket. Oh, and playing with the kittens, who are convinced that we're leaving and NEVER COMING BACK. Talk about making me feel guilty....
