Well, Blood Sacrifice is done and emailed to the editor. One thing off my mind - yay!

Today is another busy, busy day. I'm meeting [ profile] empath_1111, [ profile] suelder, [ profile] tamboblog, [ profile] beard5 and some other writer friends for dinner tonight. Before that, I've got a ton of things I need to do.

Okay, here's the day in a nutshell:

1. Bread! Need to make several loaves of bread for the week.
2. Lasagna for dinner tomorrow night.
3. Chicken salad for lunches.
4. Finish 1st pass editing for newest DMP novel
5. Get words for NaNo!

So, I'm heading out to [ profile] beard5's at around 2:30 pm. I've got a loaf of anadama in the bread machine (I do the dough in the machine, then bake it in the oven) and I'm in FM Chat getting ready to start editing for 30 minutes. See you all later!

Today's to-do list:

2. Words on Descent.
3. Finish chap summaries on Tony's book, so I can figure out how to reorg it.

I'll be parking my ass in chat all day, doing wars to keep me on task. See y'all there!

Starting count on Sacrifice is 8984.

Still working on grinding out the last of Sacrifice, but I started Descent yesterday. Got the entire weekend to write, so I'm hoping to get a large chunk done (especially since I don't have baseball to watch anymore!).

Descent into Darkness

(I'll get a word meter going eventually)

I'll update my 70 Days of Sweat meter later.

Great counts I've been seeing!!!!

More later - hope I get VTO. I'm fried.

Back to the book.

Thanks to everyone who is helping me out with Blood Sacrifice - if you've emailled me today, I can't access my home email from work, so I'll be getting that out to you later tonight when I get to my folks' house.

Heading out to lunch now - going to the caf to write (since I'm not hungry - still full from lunch earlier!) I'll eat later.

No writing. Just WoW and movie (Resident Evil: Extinction) with hubby. Very satisfying.

Just wondering what's in the water this month? Far too much drama on my flist. Very odd.

Thanks to those who critted Sacrifice - I will be looking at those. Yes, it's loose and it's ugly. :p That's why I needed it critted - to show me where. Because I currently hate it, you know. :p

Bed now. Cape Cod to see the grandmother tomorrow, so no writing until tomorrow night. Might have to WoW Monday morning so I can use the good computer (hee!)

Night, LJ!

Wow. It's been a busy few days. I'm sorry I haven't posted - I haven't had time!

The day job is picking up - we're heading into Annual Enrollment season, so I'll be working more hours there. And there are changes coming with that too - suffice to say, I shall not be working nights much longer.

Like I posted before, I finished Blood Sacrifice on Monday night - now I'm working on my chapter for the Magic guide book. Honestly, I don't know why this is giving me fits, but it is. I've eked out a few words yesterday and a few today - I'm determined to finish it this week. I have tomorrow at [ profile] beard5's and Friday at the hospital (Remicade treatment). It's only supposed to be 4-8k - I shouldn't be having this much problem with it.

The final draft of Sacrifice is due to the editor of the anthology on October 31, so that's next week's project. I'm working on the backbone of Descent Into Darkness during my lunch periods this week, since that's my NaNo this year.

Oh, and I set up the NH group! We're under the group forums - it's the NH/SCA group. Join us if you're in the area - we will be doing at least one write-in during November!

Signing off for now.

And Blood Sacrifice, version 1.5 is done!!!!

starting count: 8168
ending count: 12588

gain/loss: +4420

starting line: "Are we ready?"

ending line: It’s over, was her final thought. For the moment.

darling: “It’s a fucking Beltane ritual.” Shanna rolled her eyes. “What, do they think I have nothing better to do than harass her? And you wonder why I want to strangle her on a regular basis. I’m trying to protect her – I don’t give a rat’s ass who she screws in a Circle. As long as Rick doesn’t care, why should I?”

Yay! I finished it! Finally!

It's rough (gods, it's rough) but it's gone out to the DII critters and I'll be shooting it to a couple of folks to read. Personally, I'm going to let it marinate for about a week to two weeks while I do other stuff, then I'll come back to it. I have a bunch of editing for other folks I need to do, I need to start the outline for NaNo and I need to finish my nonfiction chapter (hangs head in shame).

More later (a lot later), as it's 3:30 am now.
starting count: 7036
ending count: 8168

gain/loss: 1132

starting line: “I’ll try,” Shanna promised, heading out the door.

ending line: “Oh hell,” Shanna said, flicking her hand at the trash basket and watching coffee rain into it. “That’s the last thing we need.”

darling: alas.

Well, now I'm just about to the point where I stopped before. Now we're into new stuff. Time for Shanna, Justin and Rick to really show what they're made off. And I'm much happier with the direction this is going in.

Goal is to have it done by Monday. I'm heading to [ profile] beard5's for breakfast and writing tomorrow.
starting count: 5260
ending count: 7036

gain/loss: 1776

starting line: Green and gold energies dominated the Power swirling around them, sex and fertility magic fueled by the lust and fervor of thousands of college students.

ending line: "I understand." Yvaine nodded. "I hope you catch whoever did that, though. Poor Anthony. Who could have guessed he'd fall into something like that?" She unclasped her hands and waved to the door. "I'd best not keep you. Good luck, Ms. Greystone, and try to get some sleep." darling: It wasn't that the girl was naked and lying on her back on the main altar in the center of the Catholic Church, her blood creating an intricate pattern on the fine carpeting, worn by the steps of countless petitioners over the years. Nor was it that her entire torso was ripped open in a single long, ragged gash that left strips of skin hanging on either side of her body, fluttering in the early morning breeze that came in through the open chapel doors. It wasn't even that there were no signs of entry or exit, and that the chapel had been securely locked for the night by the good Father himself, which meant someone had known exactly where to drop her magically, implying a connection to the Church. No, that was all bad enough, but nothing Shanna hadn't seen before.

I'm so going to hell.
starting count: 3773
ending count: 5260

gain/loss: +1487

starting line: “You think it’s a Corn God sacrifice gone wrong?”

ending line: Rick, buoyed by Shanna's Power, pushed his senses out past the emerald green of the garden, into the brilliantly flaring atmosphere of the campus.

darling: Magic crawled along her skin like a lover’s touch, exploring her with warm, feather fingers that set her blood to racing for an entirely different reason.

Blood Sacrifice

starting count: 1625
ending count: 2069
gain/loss: +444

starting line: Quinn was staring at both of them like they’d lost their minds, but Justin threw back his head and laughed. “All that Power, all that crankiness, and yet deep down inside, you’re just a girly girl at heart.”

ending line: “Kids?” Shanna suggested, but Rick shook his head again, his dark blonde hair flying. “Interesting.”

darling: “Exactly, Chief. I’m the StarChild. I’m not a freaking magic barometer. And we don’t know that Blood Magic killed him.” Shanna kept her temper with some effort; Quinn was not a mage, which is why he always called her in to investigate these things. “Besides, the campus is rather…noisy at the moment. It’s almost Beltane, after all.”

Well, my Warlock now has an imp and is level 5. And I bought the full version.

Now, I'm off to write more on Sacrifice. My goal is 500 words.
Before I go to bed...

starting count: 337
ending count: 1625
gain/loss: +1288

starting line: It took a few moments, but once her brain recognized who was leaning back on the couch, she lowered her hand and shook her head.

ending line: “That’s easy, Justin,” she said out loud, and chuckled as Quinn jumped. “I don’t have to actually touch them to pull off limbs. I don’t mind blood – I just don’t like it all over me.”

darling: “An answer rather quickly might be nice,” she said impatiently when the silence stretched on, broken only by the popping of bodily fluids as they dripped down onto the hot coals. “Before we lose all our evidence?”

BTW, [ profile] scarlettarcher made this icon for me - it's Shanna. I LOVE it!!!

So, after writing, I made summer pesto pasta for dinner, picked up the living room a bit (my vacuum is STILL not working, bah) and headed out to the gym only 15 minutes behind schedule.

Got in 25 minutes of swimming and treated myself to 10 minutes in the Jacuzzi, then headed into work and found out that I've got VTO at 8 pm, so [ profile] irysangel and I can go out tonight! WOOT!!!

AND, I figured out what was wrong with Blood Sacrifice while I was doing laps in the pool. Booyah!!!

Well, Donna helped me figure out one plot point - I'll be doing a bit more on the timeline. She's also reading the first part of Blood Sacrifice, and I think I might work on that a bit more later.

I dunno. I gotta stop whining and work on the book, but I really don't want to. I don't know why.

I'm such a wuss. Off to write.
Goal for the Day: 750
Actual words written:

Starting line: The room they put the girl in was cold.

Ending line: “Rightly,” Shanna muttered, and Justin shot her a look.

Darling: none. :(

Good Things: Well, they id'ed the girl.

Mean Things: Rick's upset.

Time for bed now.

At work, and it's finally slow enough to pull out the clipboard, the printed sheets and the outlines, and do some work.

So here's the list for tonight:

- 5 written pages on Seasons
- 5 written pages on Sacrifice
- write up my crit for DII on the clipboard
- write letters to my grandfather and my nana

- write up really cool idea for my next series

I'm sure there's more to do, but I can't think of anything more right now, and this should keep me busy for a while.

Edit 1 - 11 pm:
Go a few things done. I'm going to wait until I get home to post my DII crit - gotta check some names, etc, on the story. Wow, crits are HARD!

Now back to Seasons - I've got one page written so far. Hoping for more before I leave. One more hour!

( Jul. 8th, 2007 08:44 pm)
It's 8:45 pm EST. I have been a complete and utter slacker today.

It was joyous.

Spent the day (after I got up at noon) in bed, trying to load World of Warcraft on Cassandra. I'm getting a weird error, and it keeps trying to download the same patch over and over again. I called their tech support, and lo and behold, they aren't open on weekends. So I'll try them tomorrow, I guess.

Now I'm finally ready to get down to business. I joined DII this weekend, and I've got to get something done so I can post it. I'm thinking Sacrifice, which needs a lot less backstory than Seasons does to make sense.

Oh yeah, and work is OT all week, except Tuesday and Wednesday. Whee!!!

To do list for tonight:

- Ch. 3 for Seasons
- Make list of meals for the week
- update schedule for the week in my planner
- Finish Sacrifice
- write up seekrit project synopsis
- write up first crit for DII

Yes, I know not all of this will be done. I'm going to try anyways.

Updates later!
I didn't do any writing. I'll state that up front (and yes, I'm heading over to [ profile] novel_in_90 to do my mea culpas and take my lumps), but it was a good weekend nonetheless.

Saturday was the faire. It was a new faire, and as such, I think we had maybe 100 people. BUT, Dereca and I made enough to cover our site fee, plus a bit more for dinner, so we're counting it a good day. Especially since we had a GORGEOUS day weather-wise, and neither of us got sunburned. But we didn't leave the site until about 8:30 pm (we helped some other folks pack up) and I didn't get home until after 11 pm. So, since I'd been up since 6 am on 4 hours of sleep for the prior two days, I gave up and went to bed.

Sunday, [ profile] argus7hills let me sleep until 1:30 pm. Heaven!!! Then I slugged for the rest of the day. I did laundry, watched a very old horror movie with Zsa Zsa Gabor called "Picture Mommy Dead" and watched the Sox lose (boo). I did some brainstorming on WHY the book wasn't working with [ profile] tambowrites - thank you again, hon, for letting me whine at you!!!! But no writing.

Today, I got up and went to the doctor's to get my varicose veins looked at. The guy was obnoxious (I don't like him) but his scale rocked - I'm down to 254.1 lbs!!! That's a stunning total of 23.9 lbs since January!!! And one of the girls at work stopped me and told me I looked AWESOME - made my day!

Of course, that was balanced by the realization that I left ALL my stuff for Seasons and Sacrifice at home (sigh). So I'm going to start the new brainstorming/outlining for Treaty. Since I've gotten a wee bit more sophisticated since I last looked at it.

I'm going to work with [ profile] domynoe's sheets on this again, and see how it works. Very exciting!

Oh, and it was a good news/bad news day at work. Bad news? I have to work OT tomorrow - 12:30 pm to 12 am. Bah. Good news? My friend Rick is making me dinner! Yay!

More later.

( Jun. 24th, 2007 02:15 pm)
Considering the email I got earlier today, I've got some modified goals for today.

1. Five pages of Ep. 1 of Broken Wings
2. 1k on Blood Sacrifice
3. 5k on Dark Moon Seasons

It's a lot, but I have all day to do it, and no one around to bug me. If I'm feeling especially creative, I might try and finish Wings tonight, but I'm starting with Seasons. Updates later today.
