436 new words this morning. Not bad, but not great.
Starting line: He turned, unable to resist watching, feeling his excitement grow as he saw the small mushroom cloud, glowing a brilliant blue, rising up into the sky behind them.
Ending line: “Our Father, who art in Heaven…”
Darling: Her pale face was calm, unsurprised, but when she turned back and caught him looking at her, the sorrow in her eyes bothered him. Not only sorrow, but forgiveness: forgiveness for his sins, forgiveness for the blood of innocents that now lay on his hands. For the first time in a long time, the joy of destruction that normally filled his soul was gone, and shame took its place.
Deaths: LOTS of redshirts. Um, like an entire city block. :)
Bad things: Made Findlay feel guilty. Blew up a city block in Charleston.
