(to-do/writing/help) It's an off day, and yet I'm still busy.

How does this work, exactly?

However, I got a bit done today. I went over to the house, did 2 loads of laundry and put them away, went to the pool and swam 3/4 of a mile, and then came back to Mom and Dad's. I also successfully lit my first fire in the woodstove. Yay! And I worked on my dress for about an hour.

Tonight is homework and writing. Here's what I NEED to do tonight:

1. Discussion Questions for Wills Also took the final - got an 86! Not bad for not studying.
2. Discussion Questions for English
3. Write 500 words on Rites

Things I would like to do:
1. Listen to my English seminar
2. Write 500 words on the Tales summary

We'll see. Diving into Wills now.

Oh, and the help? Podiobooks needs to upgrade their equipment, and they need some help to do it. If you have a little bit to spare, donate and help keep this amazing site up and running. I've donated - if you can't donate, can you boost the signal? Thanks!

(help) I wish I had a million dollars...

I'm very lucky. I know I am. I've never known true want, never had to worry where my next meal or my next bed would come from. I've had warm clothes in the winter, and the money to have a pet, or go to the movies, or buy Christmas presents.

Which is why I feel so awful when I read about stories like this. It's just wrong. Dammit, no one should have to worry about losing their home. Ever.

Ever.

I will be donating what money I can (not much, but every little bit helps). And I will be pondering what I can donate to the auction.

I also want to take a moment and thank everyone on my flist for how generous they've been. I've posted a few of these, and we've helped some families who really needed it. I know it's hard out there. I know everyone's having problems making ends meet. Thank you, all of you, for everything you've been able to do.

Thank you. It's folks like you that really bring home what this season is about for me.

It's about helping our fellow man. I don't care what religion you are, what god you follow or don't, what you believe. In the end, we're all human beings, and dammit, human beings help one another.

Thank you again.

This is just awesome.

An update on the family I posted about a few days ago.

This made me so happy. Thank you to everyone who donated. We've given this family a second chance.

(help) From [livejournal.com profile] mizkit

If you have an extra dollar or two, please help a family stay in their home. And if you do donate, tell [livejournal.com profile] mizkit: she's giving away a prize to the person who donates the most on her f-list.

I'm so weepy lately - this story made me cry. I donated already. Please, if you can help, even a dollar would help.

I'm very thankful for many things this Thanksgiving, but mostly I'm thankful for the update on this, which shows how many wonderful, caring, loving people are out there in the Web. Thank you all for giving me the chance to get to know you, even if it's just through this Journal.

Please, if you can help!!!!

Saturday December 17
Tracy Hall (Nowich, VT)
9:00am 1:00 pm.

The husband of one of our instructors is VERY ill. He needs two organ
transplants and the waiting list here is so long that he is not likely
to
survive. The good news is that he can establish temporary residence in
Florida where the waiting list is very short.

Our special event on December 17th will be a benefit for Jocelyn and
her
husband, Dave.

We were going to charge $25 admission to the event and use the monies
toward
the cost of the event with left over funds going towards the purchase
of our
gorgets. Instead, we are asking people to make the $25 the baseline
for
participation and contribute whatever else they like. All monies will
go
towards the cost of getting Dave set up in Florida. Participants will
receive certificates instead of medals, no prizes will be given, I will
try
to get Norwich to wave the fee for the facility, and all staff will
donate
their time. This will maximize the amount that we are able to
contribute.

HOWEVER, as always, we do not want ANYONE to miss this event due to the
admission fee. If you are unable to pay, please come anyway. Feel
free to
pay only as much as you like. NO questions asked.

Karla

PS: For those of you who want to help this family with non-financial
support, stay tuned we might go ahead with our earlier plan to help
with
household maintenance as well.

Jocelyn and her family are good people - I have a contact addy as well if you just want to send donations. Email me and I'll email it to you.
