My friend Donna is a genius.

I knew this before, which is why we're moving with her down to NC when we move. She used to be a real estate agent, and has a friend who's still an agent...

Who deals with rentals.

*swoon*

Donna emailed her for me, and I already have like 8 properties to look at. Yes, I'd like to go with our number one choice (the duplex in Concord), but just in case, I want to have other opportunties available. I've learned not to put all my eggs in one basket, so to speak.

So this Sunday, I think I'll kidnap Ms. Donna and we'll go look at rental properties. One of them looks awesome - it's a HOUSE (EEE!!!!), but it's up in Hillsboro, so I need to see how far from Manchester it is (hubby doesn't want an hour commute, and neither do I, frankly). So we'll see how far the drive is from Manchester.

And good news on the taxes/car front as well - filed the taxes today, and we're getting enough back that I can put it all aside in the savings account, and not worry one bit about security deposits and first months' rent. BIG sigh of relief there. This, boys and girls, is why Hubby and I both have extra money taken out of our checks every pay period. So I KNOW I'm getting something back each year, and it's not chicken feed, neither. ;) Car - they've found an engine!!! Huzzah! So hopefully, within 2 weeks, I shall have my beautiful little Escort back! (not that I mind driving the Lovely Ms. Donna's Kia Sephia, but, well, I want MY car back!)

Good news all around today. And now, off to the showers to get ready for work.

I remember it being less than an hour from Manchester to Hillboro, at least outside of winter. During the winter the direct road is (or was)... challenging. Anjuli lived there and commuted to Manchester for a while. You may want to ask her about it.

Ick. I'm not keen on that long a drive - and I'll have the farther commute, as I'm working in Merrimack.

Thanks for the info!

Have that money automtically tranferred to your savings account every pay period instead and *you* get to keep the interest rather than the government. ;)

I tried that, but this way, I can't touch it. No matter WHAT happens.

If it's in a savings account, there's always a "well, this is a REAL EMERGENCY" and poof, it's gone.

I'll loan it to the government. Then I know I'll get something back.
