Well, I haven't updated much, because I haven't been writing much lately. However, I've gotten the alpha crits back for Dreams, and, well, I have an extensive rewrite ahead of me.

It's too "nice" a story. Everything goes too easily for Sapph, and I knew that when I was writing it. I've discovered that my first drafts tend to be the long version of the outline - and they bear little resemblence to what finally comes out. Horseman Draft #1 is NOTHING like Horseman Draft #2, although the story arcs are the same.

So, I've gotten 1896 words written on the rewrite of the plot summary. Yes, I follow the same routine for a 2nd draft as I do for a 1st draft: plot summary, major scene outline and chapter outline. It takes a while, but if I do the work upfront, I don't have as hard a time with the writing itself.

This book is going to be darker than I thought. And the magic has crept in, despite my trying to keep it out. Oh well. I guess I just like magic too much. :)

Here's the year-to-date wordcount:

So not too bad. But I need to get moving.

Oh, and I didn't win Powerball. Sigh....
