And Val's head is not hurting much! Yay! I feel HUMAN again!

So enough with this "taking it easy" crap today. Today, we get shit DONE! (Yes, I'm listening to Irish rebellion music. It makes me feisty.) I have plans for today, and I refuse to let them get derailed.

To-Do:

- Morning pages
- Swimming
- Baseball at 1 pm
- Strawberry Scones
- Record The Sun Never Sets

- Fix plot summary and outline for Tales
- Vacuum
- Dishes
- Laundry

- Meal Plan for the week
- Running out for Catnip
- Episode 2 of Tales
- Promo for Tales
- Edit 1 story for S&S

Wow, that looks like a plan! Time to implement it!

What are YOU doing today?
Today, the day and the night share equal parts of our 24 hours. It's a good day to get things done, and that is what I intend to do today.

I have realized that in order to feel better, I have to do a few things. The biggest? Remember to take my meds. *sigh* I am such a bad patient sometimes. At least I finished my antibiotics on schedule. It's the daily meds I have issues with.

Also, today, I am taking a break from 1 pm to 4 pm to watch my boys play. Wasn't it nice of the Red Sox and MLB to schedule Opening Day on my birthday? So considerate. I can't wait.

So, this is the list, in no particular order:

- Morning Pages
- Dishes
- Email
- Clean up dining room table
- Put away folded laundry
- Wash laundry in basement
- Pagan post
- WWI update post
- Make cranberry muffins except they were brownies. That counts!
- Vacuum living/dining room
- Documents prepared to send out tomorrow
- Clean up kitchen table
- Clean up dining room table
- Edit 3 stories for S&S
- Record The Sun Never Sets
- Record 1 ep of Horseman
- Write 350 words on Tales summary
- Outline week in day planner

There may be more, but that's a good list. I like it. There may also be WoW later, if I want. And swimming, possibly.

Now, off to do dishes, so there can be breakfast.
You know, this not being able to access LJ from work sucks. It puts me behind on everything!

Big news - tomorrow (June 27), we'll have another guest blogger dropping by! Kim Richards, author of Death Masks, will be dropping by to answer questions and talk about her new book as part of her blog tour this month. Check it out - it looks awesome!

More big news - I'll be a guest at Trinoc-con down in Durham, NC at the end of July (yes, I know, I said no more cons this year but hey - who am I to pass up a good time?) - I know at least one of my buddies (cough, cough, [livejournal.com profile] daveybeauchamp, cough) is somewhere in that area. Who else wants to come and hang out?

Seasons continues apace. I have a feeling I'm going to have to take Sunday and block out the world and just write. This week has sucked for writing. I'm also working on editing chapters for Elements, so I feel like I'm running in all directions.

I apologize if I haven't been keeping up with everyone here on LJ - I don't have time! :p

Oh, and more news - I got an A in my first class! Huzzah for me - I've got a 4.0!
So last night, I finished the readthrough for Belladonna Dreams. Now comes the next part of my editing: answering the questions that have popped up in the bible during my readthrough. I have at least one character...no, actually, I have TWO characters that I don't have a lot of background on. For both of them, I suspect they're part of a continuing storyline (ohnoez! not another sequel!), and I have to figure out what that continuing storyline is.

I also have to figure out what role the Daywalkers play in this world. I suspect it's a larger role than I knew when I first wrote the book.

So today, I'm going to take all the questions I have scattered through my notes and consolidate them. Then I start tackling them one by one. I also have to get my character notecards in order and updated for the rewrite.

When I do a rewrite, I retype everything. I know it seems like a lot of wasted effort, but it forces me to look at every word, and I can edit as I go. YMMV.

More later.
Two of the chapter for Elements of Fantasy: Magic have been edited and sent to my co-editor tonight. And I must say, I love working with professional authors who know their stuff. It's so easy to edit them - and so much fun reading their work.

Now on to writing. On tap tonight: The Birka Chronicles and Dark Moon Seasons. And I have to check out the FM boards for 2yn.
So, here's the first in a series on how I write. Remember, y'all asked for this, so don't cry when you find out how incredibly OCD I am when it comes to this kind of thing. :)

(Okay, to be perfectly honest, I'm pretty OCD about a lot of things, but that's neither here nor there. This is about the editing.)

Follow the dancing red pen... )

Okay, more later. This is an on-going process, after all, and it's time for me to head home.

Well, Blood Sacrifice is done and emailed to the editor. One thing off my mind - yay!

Today is another busy, busy day. I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] empath_1111, [livejournal.com profile] suelder, [livejournal.com profile] tamboblog, [livejournal.com profile] beard5 and some other writer friends for dinner tonight. Before that, I've got a ton of things I need to do.

Okay, here's the day in a nutshell:

1. Bread! Need to make several loaves of bread for the week.
2. Lasagna for dinner tomorrow night.
3. Chicken salad for lunches.
4. Finish 1st pass editing for newest DMP novel
5. Get words for NaNo!

So, I'm heading out to [livejournal.com profile] beard5's at around 2:30 pm. I've got a loaf of anadama in the bread machine (I do the dough in the machine, then bake it in the oven) and I'm in FM Chat getting ready to start editing for 30 minutes. See you all later!

Today's to-do list:

1. FINISH SACRIFICE!!!!
2. Words on Descent.
3. Finish chap summaries on Tony's book, so I can figure out how to reorg it.

I'll be parking my ass in chat all day, doing wars to keep me on task. See y'all there!

Starting count on Sacrifice is 8984.
Yup, W2 season. *sigh* Someone remind me why I thought it was a good idea to do both Health and Insurance (just finished Annual Enrollment season) AND Payroll? Yeah, I forget why too. :p

So I've dropped out of [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90, because Belladonna Dreams is getting put aside for a bit this week, and I'm already behind. I need to finish editing Alien Revelations (which is the cool sequel to Alien Deception and I highly recommend it), then I get to finish reading [livejournal.com profile] irysangel's UNNATURAL (which I cannot WAIT to dive into, but I have to finish Tony's first, as that one actually pays money and well, I need money *grin*). In there somewhere, I have to start editing Dark Moon Seasons.

Oh yeah, The Complete Guide to Writing Fantasy: The Author's Grimoire is in there too, although that consists mainly of collating the line edits from the authors involved, making sure my intro is smooth, and putting bios together. Not too bad.

So writing is a bit on the back burner. However, depending on how much I get done tonight on Tony's book, I might take a wee bit of a break and write up what I have on faeries for SB. I've been doing some mulling (because it's easier to worldbuild at work rather than actually write), and I have some interesting things.

More later. Back to work now. *sigh*

Got lots done today! Here we go!

Word Goal for the day: 750 - made 4160

Starting line: Maggie shook her head. “I don’t know. But why would the doctor lie?”

Ending line: Damn, I was rusty.

Darling: Claire gave me a scathing look. “I’m dead, Sapphire, not stupid.”

Busy day! I figured out how to record and upload stuff (see the previous post) and did a bunch of editing and writing. Which is why it's now 2:45 am. :P

And yes, I thought more about the podcast. Lots of stuff, actually. More later, but remember the name Body Counts and Explosions. *BEG*

Oh, and this darling? My FAVORITE LINE IN THE WHOLE BOOK!

And now it's off to bed. I'm tired!
Not mine, really, but the novel I was editing for DMP is now in production's hands. Yay! Now back to concentrating on Seasons.

I think I'll print out what I have of the outline and bring it to work to worry over tonight.

Now, off to write a bit before I have to shower and go.

ETA: Well, got 919 words written before heading out. Printed out my draft so far and my outline. We'll see what I can get done on breaks, etc.

And the book is back in the author's hands - I'm just waiting for his final okay, and I'll send it off to the publisher. Yay!!! I'm very excited - it's a great book.

My desk is clean too! And my new shelves are in! When I'm not writing this week, I'm going to be cleaning in here - I'm feeling claustrophobic.

I've signed up for the Labor of Love marathon at FM - hoping for another 10k on Seasons this week. The marathon starts in (checks clock) 11 minutes. :p

Oy. I need some caffeine.

I had a blast today with Donna.

Went and saw Monster House and POTC: Dead Man's Chest. Then came home and The Mummy was on TBS! One of my ALL-TIME fav movies.

Monster House was cool, but DAMN! Not a kid's movie. I don't care that the rating was PG - it wasn't a kid's movie.

POTC rocked, of course. Love Johnny Depp as Cap'n Jack. And I thought Davy Jones rocked, although Donna thought his voice was a bit whiney. And no, I don't think it was a cliffhanger - more of a "Really? We can do that?" And no spoilers. :)

I think I might want to see Invincible. Odd, I don't like football, but I'm starting to like football movies (love The Replacements). Then again, Mark Wahlberg is one of my favorite actors too. We'll see.

Tonight and tomorrow are laundry and computer. Tonight is the final push on editing TOD. Tomorrow is all about Wings character development and Seasons outline.

( Aug. 22nd, 2006 01:46 am)
Well, I wrote tonight. Go me!

I also figured out that my outline was shot to hell, and I had NO clue where I was going. Sooooooo,

I put the rough draft aside and started to wrestle the outline. I've got some good things done on that - the book is making a LOT more sense, and I've found some interesting new characters. However, I don't know if the vampire will remain - he might move over to Descent. I could see Donovan working out there better.

I'm doing the 21-Day Habit Builder at [livejournal.com profile] mad_collective: I got 256 words done on the actual book, and another 1100+ done on the outline. My goal is to write at least 250 words a day for 21 days: I need to get back into the habit of writing every day.

Especially since my schedule is about to get a WHOLE lot more crowded.

I forsee my black book becoming my writing "to-do list," since I have a couple of irons on the fire.

1. Finishing up the edits on Tony's book - this should be done by the end of the week.
2. Dark Moon Seasons - the final needs to be in to Gwen no later than 1/1/07.
3. Broken Wings - looks like this is finally coming off the ground. We're looking at a preliminary launch date of April 2007 (RavenCon, for those going), but my artist and background illustrator need to have time to draw.
4. Belladonna Dreams - I REALLY want to finish this one.

So basically, I need to be WAY more disciplined than I have been lately. I've slacked off this summer. I can't anymore.

Hehe - I love being a writer. Let me at those deadlines!

Okay, I'm doing 2 hours of editing and at least 2 hours of writing tonight. The game is at 8 pm, and even though I know we're going to get spanked (I'm being realistic - I think the season is over at this point, although you never know), I haven't watched baseball in over a week.

So now to edit. Making dinner in an hour.

I'm so exciting. :p

Heading off to my last day of work before vacation (yay!) and just finishing up things. The living room needs to be picked up, but that's really it, and the kitchen needs to be tidied. I can do those now - once I get dressed for work.

Got another 20 pages done on Tony's book - I'm going to make a push tonight and try and finish it.

My basket is packed for Pennsic - just need to drop my meds and my money in tomorrow. I've got the camera cleaned up (525 pictures - will that be enough?) and the kittens are worn out with their new toys.

Just need to call the hotel and make sure we can check in around 10 pm (shouldn't be a problem) and then go to work!

More later...
