I'm doing it - giving up. I know I can finish novels, but Novembers always suck for me (I'm in Health and Insurance, what can I say?) And I completely didn't prepare this year.

I'm a planner, not a pantser. So Descent is going on the shelf for a bit, and I'm going to tackle a few other projects.

I'm writing tonight, but I'm working on some outlines. I need to outline the short story for December, and I'm FINALLY going to start working on the serial I've promised my Chronicler ([livejournal.com profile] mossbeloved, please don't tell him I haven't started. Please. I'm begging you. *grin*) And this weekend, I'm going to Kinko's and printing out Dreams so I can start the revision of that. I have to work on Seasons as well the next few months.

So here's my goal for the remainder of November:

1. Outline unnamed Christmas story and start writing.
2. Outline The Birka Chronicles (yes, the title sucks, I know. I'm open to suggestions) and start it.
3. Print Dreams and do the edit outline without the Ellen POV and with only one ghost from the Elephant House.
4. Write 4 chapters of Seasons

And, because I can, a Poll!

[Poll #1092987]

New NaNo words - and where the hell did the dragon come from? This is what I get when I don't plot in advance.

Starting count: 3521
Ending count: 4760
Difference: +1239

starting line: The woods creaked around him, bare branches rubbing against one another, skeletal lovers with bones intertwined.

ending line: “Yes, I’m sure.” She grinned at the slight huff in his voice. “Have a good day, Jordan.” And she hung the phone up before he could say anything else. “Well, well, well. I could get used to this.”

darling: She looked so irate, standing there bare-ass naked, her scars wrapping around her like lover’s fingers, that he had to agree, even though he knew that going to that house was wrong.

**

Memo to MC: You are not running around naked all freaking book. Just so you know. This ain't that kind of book, sister.

So, I actually have been working on NaNo. I'm currently at 2394 words, per the NaNo word meter. Go me! I'll have more this week.

And I've already burned a house down. Woohoo! Now I just need to start the body count. And I've even updated my NaNo account - there's a lovely exerpt up. Remember, it's really rough, but you can go check it out if you want. I'm captain_hobbes there.

This pantsing thing is kind of fun. Wonder what I'll have when I'm done?

Bed now.

Well, Blood Sacrifice is done and emailed to the editor. One thing off my mind - yay!

Today is another busy, busy day. I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] empath_1111, [livejournal.com profile] suelder, [livejournal.com profile] tamboblog, [livejournal.com profile] beard5 and some other writer friends for dinner tonight. Before that, I've got a ton of things I need to do.

Okay, here's the day in a nutshell:

1. Bread! Need to make several loaves of bread for the week.
2. Lasagna for dinner tomorrow night.
3. Chicken salad for lunches.
4. Finish 1st pass editing for newest DMP novel
5. Get words for NaNo!

So, I'm heading out to [livejournal.com profile] beard5's at around 2:30 pm. I've got a loaf of anadama in the bread machine (I do the dough in the machine, then bake it in the oven) and I'm in FM Chat getting ready to start editing for 30 minutes. See you all later!

Today's to-do list:

1. FINISH SACRIFICE!!!!
2. Words on Descent.
3. Finish chap summaries on Tony's book, so I can figure out how to reorg it.

I'll be parking my ass in chat all day, doing wars to keep me on task. See y'all there!

Starting count on Sacrifice is 8984.

Still working on grinding out the last of Sacrifice, but I started Descent yesterday. Got the entire weekend to write, so I'm hoping to get a large chunk done (especially since I don't have baseball to watch anymore!).

Descent into Darkness

565/50000

(I'll get a word meter going eventually)

I'll update my 70 Days of Sweat meter later.

Great counts I've been seeing!!!!

More later - hope I get VTO. I'm fried.

Back to the book.

When you truly understand that your antagonist has been lying to everyone, including you and themselves.

*headdesk*

Things are so much clearer now.

Wow. It's been a busy few days. I'm sorry I haven't posted - I haven't had time!

The day job is picking up - we're heading into Annual Enrollment season, so I'll be working more hours there. And there are changes coming with that too - suffice to say, I shall not be working nights much longer.

Like I posted before, I finished Blood Sacrifice on Monday night - now I'm working on my chapter for the Magic guide book. Honestly, I don't know why this is giving me fits, but it is. I've eked out a few words yesterday and a few today - I'm determined to finish it this week. I have tomorrow at [livejournal.com profile] beard5's and Friday at the hospital (Remicade treatment). It's only supposed to be 4-8k - I shouldn't be having this much problem with it.

The final draft of Sacrifice is due to the editor of the anthology on October 31, so that's next week's project. I'm working on the backbone of Descent Into Darkness during my lunch periods this week, since that's my NaNo this year.

Oh, and I set up the NH group! We're under the group forums - it's the NH/SCA group. Join us if you're in the area - we will be doing at least one write-in during November!

Signing off for now.
