Wow. I'll do a full roundup later, but let me just say three things:

1. Cons are amazing - I love the energy and most of the people. I had a lot of fun.

2. I am raring to write/edit/all sorts of things. Cons recharge me.

3. That being said, whoever walked off with the tip jar at the CapClave party is an ass and really deserves to have the shit beaten out of them. Talk about low. If the CapClave folks decide to stop holding parties, I wouldn't blame them one bit. First Bruce the Dodo getting stolen last year at RavenCon, and now this? Talk about sinking to a new low. I hope whoever did it was honest enough to give it back, at least.

More later.

At the moment, this is where I'll be this year:

RavenCon, April 9-11
Richmond, VA (which I'm dragging the lovely [livejournal.com profile] camilla_anna to, and we're hopefully debuting Rum and Runestones there)

BaltiCon, May 28-31
Baltimore, MD

NEGACon, August TBD
Farmington, ME

I'm dithering on ReaderCon in July, only because I haven't looked at when GNEW is, and since I'm ditching Qwest for BaltiCon, I really want to go to GNEW. No DragonCon this year - I can't afford it. I'm also contemplating CapClave (I know, I gotta stop dithering and apply already, but I'm, well, dithering), but I don't know what next fall is looking like yet.

Any of my buds out there want to get together/hang out during one of these?

You know, this not being able to access LJ from work sucks. It puts me behind on everything!

Big news - tomorrow (June 27), we'll have another guest blogger dropping by! Kim Richards, author of Death Masks, will be dropping by to answer questions and talk about her new book as part of her blog tour this month. Check it out - it looks awesome!

More big news - I'll be a guest at Trinoc-con down in Durham, NC at the end of July (yes, I know, I said no more cons this year but hey - who am I to pass up a good time?) - I know at least one of my buddies (cough, cough, [livejournal.com profile] daveybeauchamp, cough) is somewhere in that area. Who else wants to come and hang out?

Seasons continues apace. I have a feeling I'm going to have to take Sunday and block out the world and just write. This week has sucked for writing. I'm also working on editing chapters for Elements, so I feel like I'm running in all directions.

I apologize if I haven't been keeping up with everyone here on LJ - I don't have time! :p

Oh, and more news - I got an A in my first class! Huzzah for me - I've got a 4.0!
Just wondering what you guys think:

[Poll #1181462]
Yes, I know, it's a week later and I'm finally writing my con review. *sigh* What can I say? Better late than never.

Hidden because it's starting to get long... )

Wow, that did and didn't take as long as I thought it would. Look for some more upcoming stuff, including the entries to the t-shirt contest (yep, we got some!) and Jeri's guest-blogging. And I'll be reviewing Wicked Game on May 13th here, but until then, you can check out an excerpt here and pre-order it here.
If anyone's heading out to High Point, NC, for StellarCon this weekend, here's my schedule:

I think I'll be doing a reading from Blood Sacrifice, which is the short story that I submitted to the upcoming Writers for Relief anthology. Unless the boss says I can't, in which point I'll do a chapter from Not Your Father's Horseman.

More later.

(original wording not mine)

When President Bush ordered troops to Iraq, he probably never imagined that he would be ultimately be responsible for what very well could be the very first D&D convention/game day ever held in a war zone. Ziggurat Con, being held June 9 from 1200 to 2100 hours at Camp Adder/Tallil Airbase, is open to all allied military personnel and civilian contractors in Iraq.

KBR and MWR (the army’s Morale Welfare & Recreation Department) have graciously allowed service members to use part of the Community Activity Center to hold the Game Day. The Ping Pong room will be set up for RPGs (Role-Playing Games, not to be confused with the rocket propelled grenades which share the same acronym), and the DVD Movie room will be playing Anime Movies all day in support of the event.

The largest problem with running a Con in Iraq, of course, is that there are no local stores or game publishers, and few game books on the post. Even dice are in short supply, with many soldiers breaking the unwritten taboo held by many gamers and sharing dice. Thankfully, many game publishers have also lent their support, and have agreed to supply game products to help the Con along. aethereal FORGE, Sovereign Press, Final Redoubt Press, Goodman Games, Paizo Publishing and Steve Jackson Games are among those that have thrown in their support for the convention. But Amberson indicated that the soldiers could definitely use more.

"This convention is currently in drastic need of prizes and giveaways for the troops," he said. "Everything donated will go directly to the troops, or to MWR to use as loaner books for the soldiers."

They’re planning to run the following games (and will be happy to get additional games):
Babylon 5 RPG, Cyberpunk 2020, D&D, D&D RPGA, GURPS, Historic Miniatures Battles, Magic Tournament, MechWarrior Miniatures, Rifts, Shadowrun, Starship Troopers, White Wolf System-Vampire, White Wolf System-Werewolf, XCrawl

See her original post here for some links for places to buy stuff to donate, if you would like.
