So last night, I finished the readthrough for Belladonna Dreams. Now comes the next part of my editing: answering the questions that have popped up in the bible during my readthrough. I have at least one character...no, actually, I have TWO characters that I don't have a lot of background on. For both of them, I suspect they're part of a continuing storyline (ohnoez! not another sequel!), and I have to figure out what that continuing storyline is.

I also have to figure out what role the Daywalkers play in this world. I suspect it's a larger role than I knew when I first wrote the book.

So today, I'm going to take all the questions I have scattered through my notes and consolidate them. Then I start tackling them one by one. I also have to get my character notecards in order and updated for the rewrite.

When I do a rewrite, I retype everything. I know it seems like a lot of wasted effort, but it forces me to look at every word, and I can edit as I go. YMMV.

More later.

I keep wanting to try the "retype everything" method, but whenever I get to that point, I chicken out :/

It can be pretty intimidating, but I type really fast, so it goes pretty quickly. :)

I never thought of that. To me it seems like it would be more enjoyable than just scrolling through looking for that next edit.

It is, and I get to be more creative. I find a lot changes between one draft to the next. If I remember, I'll post examples once I start this.
