Starting line: Once he started to realize that Lisa was poisoning Cameron’s mind against the project, however, Alex put his own plans in motion.

Ending line: Everything else was simply a sensation to be acknowledged and then ignored.

Darling: She sat on the chill stone bench, one leg sticking straight out in front of her and the other cocked up, her boot heel caught in part of the intricate filigree of the seat, her leather-gloved hands wrapped around her knee, a pensive expression on her pale face. The winter wind moaning through the bare trees played with the breath steaming from between her lips, teasing the tips of her long, dark hair, but she barely noticed the chill in the air. After six months in the Shadow Lands, Nikki Jeffries welcomed cold. At least it was familiar.
