(work/school/writing) A random post

Work: No packing last night - I'm contemplating coming in Monday and doing a bunch of stuff while no one is at work to bother me. We were busy, so I got good stats but no packing.

The good news? I'm not on the phones until TUESDAY. YAY!!!

School: The good news is that they've scheduled no OT for the first week of classes. But I still haven't heard from my director if I can get out at 4:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays when we don't have OT. I'm hoping so, but we'll see.

I got my books Tuesday, and I turn in my paper today, so this semester is in the books. Unless I totally bomb the paper (which I doubt), I should pull an A this semester too. If only I'd done this well in college the first time... oh well.

Writing: Snow continues apace. I need to get in touch with some folks regarding Elements and I need to get the revisions in for Seasons. I also have two crits I need to do for DII, and I need to clean my writing desk up. I'm also working on the first chapter for the podcast of Horseman - I'll be looking for some beta "listeners" for my efforts. Anyone want to volunteer? I'll warn you now - it's not going to be nearly as spiffy as Tee's stuff, but I'm hoping it won't be too horrible. I just need to make sure I'm audible and stuff. Email me or comment and let me know if you want this inflicted on you at some point in September.

(writing/cons/guests) Busy, busy!!!

You know, this not being able to access LJ from work sucks. It puts me behind on everything!

Big news - tomorrow (June 27), we'll have another guest blogger dropping by! Kim Richards, author of Death Masks, will be dropping by to answer questions and talk about her new book as part of her blog tour this month. Check it out - it looks awesome!

More big news - I'll be a guest at Trinoc-con down in Durham, NC at the end of July (yes, I know, I said no more cons this year but hey - who am I to pass up a good time?) - I know at least one of my buddies (cough, cough, [livejournal.com profile] daveybeauchamp, cough) is somewhere in that area. Who else wants to come and hang out?

Seasons continues apace. I have a feeling I'm going to have to take Sunday and block out the world and just write. This week has sucked for writing. I'm also working on editing chapters for Elements, so I feel like I'm running in all directions.

I apologize if I haven't been keeping up with everyone here on LJ - I don't have time! :p

Oh, and more news - I got an A in my first class! Huzzah for me - I've got a 4.0!

(personal/writing) Fencing and other stuff

Yeah, I know, it's not a fencing icon - but I don't have one. So Bugs will have to do.

Today I fenced! I was pathetic - but I got out there, which is more than I have been doing. And I'm going to practice on Wednesday too.

Only an hour, but I'm so sore! I need to really start moving again

Now, I've working on a lovely green and gold spice bottle for Birka (I'll post some pics later this week when I have some stuff done). Yes, Longstrider Trading will be there, and I'm going to have a bunch of new stuff. (I know, shocking.) Got a good 2 hours on that - now I'm switching to writing.

Writing goals tonight:

1. Edit one chapter for Elements done and sent to coeditor
2. 1k at least on Seasons

If I have time before 11 pm (which is bedtime), I want to find some good sites for short story writing prompts. Anyone have some sites they like?

Edit one: No writing tonight, but I have character stuff to do tomorrow at work if I have a chance. We've got OT tomorrow, so I'm not optimistic. Bed now.

A new announcement!!!

Feel free to forward this on to writing communities, post in your LJ, etc. Any questions, feel free to ask!

Dragon Moon Press is planning a series of guides to writing fantasy. The first guide in the Element of Fantasy Writing series is on Magic. As such, we are accepting proposals for chapters on any aspect of magic that might interest other writers. Proposals should briefly outline what you plan to cover in the chapter, why you think such a chapter should be included in the guide and bio of yourself. Multi-proposals are fine, though chapters will be limited to one or two per author. Chapters should be about 4 to 10 thousand words long. Preference will be given to previously published authors, however, other talented writers will be considered. The deadline for chapter proposals is March 31, 2007. Expected release date is fall 2008. Proposals can be emailed to: davealaw@shaw.ca with the subject header of "Fantasy Guide Proposal".
