I get to fence today! Of course, I haven't fenced in almost two years, thanks to a medical condition that we're still not sure what it was, or why, but I've been released from my durance vile (aka, not fencing) and I'm off to practice in 45 minutes! I'm so excited! But there are still things to do today, and it's a pretty long list, so I want to make sure I'm on task when I come back.

To do today:
- Morning pages
- Do dishes

- 3 loads of laundry
- Put away laundry in the dining room that's already folded
- Make Pork and Stuffing Casserole for the Week
- Roast Beets - no, beets went bad, because I forgot about them. *sigh*
- Make Shephard's Pie for the week
- Make Apple Crisp Pie for the week (maybe)
- Make bread
- 250 words on Last Rites
- Fencing Practice
- Make 22 balls of Garlic-Parmesan Butter for Crown
- Make 22 balls of Honey Butter for Crown

- Clean off dining room table

In no particular order, of course. Now, time to finish my tea and go do the dishes.

Well, got words on Running last night, and I'm aiming for more today during lunch and after work at Barnes & Noble while I'm waiting to meet BB and [livejournal.com profile] kuzushi for fencing practice. [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills might be going to - it's going to depend on how he's feeling.

I was a slug this morning and didn't get out of bed until 6:45 am. Luckily, I'd made my lunch the night before, so I just rolled out of bed, showered and ran out.

We'll see have to see how today goes. More later.
Despite everything, I did make it to practice last night, so I got to fence with [livejournal.com profile] kuzushi, Baron Bil and [livejournal.com profile] ladytat. I didn't do that horribly (didn't really do that well, but hey, I'm bad, I admit it).

I'm so excited to have a weekly practice that I can make on a regular basis. [livejournal.com profile] kuzushi pointed out that just being there with a sword in my hand every week is going to help my game. I'm really, really looking forward to Pennsic this year, so I want to be in good shape fencing-wise for it.

[livejournal.com profile] kuzushi also asked me what I wanted to qual in next. I have single, schlager, dagger and rigid. I haven't decided whether I'm going case or soft parry yet - I'm probably going to go soft, since I'm still using [livejournal.com profile] caitlindancer's spare schlager, so I need to get at least one of my own before I can start thinking about case. Any of the fencers on my list prefer one over the other?

In other news, we signed papers for a new (to us) car yesterday! We're getting a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan (thank you to the heads up from [livejournal.com profile] jackoutofthebox and [livejournal.com profile] bamfchickie that they were good) and we should (hopefully) be picking it up next week. Only 89k miles on it, and it's in really good condition. We had it checked out by my mechanic and he gave me a list that he'd want taken care of before he bought it - nothing serious, but stuff that could be a problem down the road. We brought the list to the dealer - he's fixing it ALL. If anyone in NH needs a used car, I HIGHLY recommend Phillips Auto in Chichester (on Rte. 4). Mike and Larry have been awesome to us!

No words last night - I was too sore and tired. Today, here's my list of to-dos:

1. Balance checkbook (daily)
2. Post January goals (yeah, I forgot to do this before)
3. Write my Nana a letter (I owe her one)
done! I'm the GOOD granddaughter this month.
4. Start working on a list of short story ideas
5. 1k on Seasons
6. Finish the readthrough on Dreams

Nothing huge - just little stuff. Hopefully today is a slow day at work.
Yeah, I know, it's not a fencing icon - but I don't have one. So Bugs will have to do.

Today I fenced! I was pathetic - but I got out there, which is more than I have been doing. And I'm going to practice on Wednesday too.

Only an hour, but I'm so sore! I need to really start moving again

Now, I've working on a lovely green and gold spice bottle for Birka (I'll post some pics later this week when I have some stuff done). Yes, Longstrider Trading will be there, and I'm going to have a bunch of new stuff. (I know, shocking.) Got a good 2 hours on that - now I'm switching to writing.

Writing goals tonight:

1. Edit one chapter for Elements done and sent to coeditor
2. 1k at least on Seasons

If I have time before 11 pm (which is bedtime), I want to find some good sites for short story writing prompts. Anyone have some sites they like?

Edit one: No writing tonight, but I have character stuff to do tomorrow at work if I have a chance. We've got OT tomorrow, so I'm not optimistic. Bed now.
Well, it was warmer than last year (not that it was that hard to be warmer - but this year, we had no frost on the ground in the morning) and I didn't get sunstroke, so it was a good year.

More details behind the cut, to spare my flist my babbling. Also some morbid stuff that I have to get off my chest. )

Okay, didn't mean to get all maudlin on you all. I'll save my X-Men 3 critique for another post - suffice it to say, I enjoyed it, and if you go and see it, stay ALL the way through the credits. It's worth it.

*The Irritation is one of those Frodo Sting swords - it goes "sching!" every time you swing it. It's annoying as hell. It's also list-legal for rigid parry. *evil grin*
