For those who don't read my other journal ([livejournal.com profile] captain_hobbes), I've been laid off. My last day is June 29th, the day before I leave for Calgary. The good news is that I'm still going to Calgary - I'll get to see [livejournal.com profile] snitchcat and [livejournal.com profile] teemonster up there, and meet my publisher in person. And we're launching Horseman! I'm excited, but really nervous.

Got my panel schedule too - I'm on a Chicks in Chainmail panel which looks interesting.

And the new (for me) computer comes tomorrow. Which means Saturday is setting up the office. And writing!

With the time off (hopefully, not too much, but we'll see) I'll have no excuse not to get really rocking on both Treaty of Betrayal (Puck's title) and Belladonna Dreams.

Looking towards the future...

CALGARY? IN CHAINMAIL? THAT SOUNDS CHILLY. BRING A CLOAK.

Chicks in Chainmail

LOL - even in Calgary, it gets warm. Trust me. Besides, we're in a climate-controlled hotel, remember?

I just hope they don't confiscate my battleaxe at customs - my chainmail doesn't look right without it! :)

Hugs. Getting laid off is tough, but you seem to have a good grip on it and it is also an opportunity in disguise. Good luck with the conference. I wish I could be there as well. Chicks in Chainmail sounds fun and Lee Martindale is an interesting woman (I assume she's on it since that's the name of her anthology series). Zette had me say hi for her one year at BayCon because they're old friends :).

Thanks, Mar. I'm just taking it one day at a time right now.

I have to see who's on the panel - I honestly haven't looked yet! I know, I know...bad Val. That's part of the plan for tonight....along with more resumes and more writing!

I wish I could be there with you... the Chicks In Chainmail sounds cool. But I live to far away and rl refuses to be that flexible at the moment. Have a blast and good luck with the resumes.

Thanks - I think it's going to be fun! And I've just signed up for yet another panel...I don't know if I'll have time to do all I want to, but I'm being optimistic!!!
