Thank you to everyone who entered the Snow contest - I loved hearing about your favorite parts of the season! If I could, I'd give all of you a copy - but my publisher says no. :P So I have to be good (mostly).

The winners are:

[livejournal.com profile] llwheeler
[livejournal.com profile] queenoftheskies
[livejournal.com profile] jacob_day

Woohoo! Folks, email me at val at vg-ford dot com and I'll send you your copy!

(Yes, there are four names there. Santa came early and told me I could give an extra one away!)

Okay, I've got a list today (I know, shocking, huh?) of stuff I need to do. It's snowing outside, and I'm going to try and take some pics for folks who don't have the white stuff to see. I have a few Californians who miss it (for some weird reason).

To Do on a Snowy Sunday afternoon:

- finish statute brief for case #1
- finish case brief for case #2
- finish statute brief for case #2
- finish report for Baronial Birthday
- answer email
- email Baronessa (must do this!!!)
- fold laundry
- make mini quiches
- make bento plan for tomorrow
- finish decorating tree
- wrap presents

In other news, I got the BEST present from [livejournal.com profile] aishabintjamil and [livejournal.com profile] peregrine yesterday: CHINA! A full dinner set for 15, plus a bunch of tea cups and saucers and plates. I'm so excited! I'm going to use some of them later today!

And at some point next season, I'm TOTALLY having a Baseball High Tea. Totally.
I'm very lucky. I know I am. I've never known true want, never had to worry where my next meal or my next bed would come from. I've had warm clothes in the winter, and the money to have a pet, or go to the movies, or buy Christmas presents.

Which is why I feel so awful when I read about stories like this. It's just wrong. Dammit, no one should have to worry about losing their home. Ever.

Ever.

I will be donating what money I can (not much, but every little bit helps). And I will be pondering what I can donate to the auction.

I also want to take a moment and thank everyone on my flist for how generous they've been. I've posted a few of these, and we've helped some families who really needed it. I know it's hard out there. I know everyone's having problems making ends meet. Thank you, all of you, for everything you've been able to do.

Thank you. It's folks like you that really bring home what this season is about for me.

It's about helping our fellow man. I don't care what religion you are, what god you follow or don't, what you believe. In the end, we're all human beings, and dammit, human beings help one another.

Thank you again.

Thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] shade53! (and it's not just you Facebook hates. It's not letting me load it either yet)
