Memo: Recruitment information
From: Rear Admiral Ismael Hayden, Department of Magical Investigation, The Pentagon

If you are reading this, you have been selected to join a very select group of individuals. The Department of Magical Investigation is the only thing protecting this nation from danger of a magical or psionic nature. The recent upswing in activity has forced us to open our doors, and we look to you to help us control the situation.

You may have heard rumors that the StarChild has begun the Cleansing, and that the Four Horsemen have been unleashed. Despite what the nation has been told, this is in fact true. Attached is the brief with all the information you will need to begin your investigations. Read it, and then report back here for your next assignment.

Your country depends upon you. Do not disappoint us.

I'm here, books are here, I've got a bed and my car is fixed. Life is good.

More later.

Go check out the Admiral's first memo to the troops - I have it on good authority there will be more soon!

And if you're at RavenCon tonight, the launch party is in Room 518 at (for various reasons) o'dark-thirty.

So now that the Admiral has spoken, I can give a bit more information. The Department of Magical Investigations (aka Dept Voodoo or Dept V) is the official magical police of the Horseman universe. You meet them in Dark Moon Seasons for the first time, and for this book and the final book in this series, and all three books of the second series, they play a rather large role.

It was suggested to me about a month ago that I should have a fan club for fans of the Horseman universe, and after batting around a few suggestions, I thought, "Hey, why not let people become agents of Dept. V?"

So that's what all the Tweets and mysterious messages have been about. The Admiral will be posting again shortly, but if you want to sign up now, feel free to leave a comment and I'll make sure you get on his list. He's looking for all the agents he can get, and while the work might be occasionally hazardous (reading new material before the general public gets it, freebie giveaways and swag stuff), I'm sure you guys can handle it.

Did I mention you get an ID card too? And (if I can find a place that won't break me financially to do it, since the Admiral is being a little stingy with the budget right now) badges?

So if you want to sign up, feel free to leave a comment. As soon as I get it up and running, there will be a blog just for the agents, and there will be more stuff coming.

And don't forget to go to the Admiral's first post earlier today and download Dark Moon Seasons for FREE! It's really the whole book! Really! :D
