So, now that Last Rites is done, I'm working on a new project. Well, kind of new. Sort of.
I had a lot of fun writing the Molly Advent story. And you know, it's a good 35k. That's a lot. But the story was...bland. It was fun for a 1st draft, no real plotting, write every day exercise. But I wanted more from it.
I wanted it to be a real book. A novel.
But it needed more of a plot. So I was talking to the lovely
irysangel, and she suggested something I'd been toying with, but been too...afraid, honestly, to ponder.
She suggested making it a cozy murder mystery.
I know, I know - I'm proving that I'm incapable of writing something without a body count. But it would be fun. And can you imagine Schrodinger trying to solve a murder mystery? I'm hooked.
So I've come up with a plan of action, and I'll be implementing it over the next few months. Will this work? I have no clue. But I love murder mysteries, and I love Carter's Cove, and hell, what's the worst that can happen? I write 80k, realize it's crap, and do something else.
That's the joy of being a writer.
