Starting line: Shanna winced as the girl raised her head and keened, a long, low, undulating sound that scraped across nerves wrung raw by the echoes of sex and pain that coated the area.

Ending line: “Go for it.” Shanna nodded to Justin, who let his shields fall. “Let’s go. We need Rick again.”


Darling: The dead girl screamed, then laughed; the edge of madness laced through her cries ripped at Shanna’s heart, an ache of regret that would only vanish when her killer was brought to justice.

Good Things: The body is no longer adorning the church's front lawn.

Mean Things: Shanna lied to the police chief.
