For some reason, I can't see all my Flist. Argh. I'll catch up at home.

I had a really rotten day to start, but it got better after I went back home. This morning, I realized that I'd left my wallet in my car (which [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills had taken to work that day) and that I still couldn't find his registration. So, I went down to the mechanic's, dropped the car off, went to Mom and Dad's (and woke Mom up, bad me) to have breakfast and get canning supplies, and then out to Manchester to get my wallet. Then I went home, made dinner (beef roast and beans in the crock pot) and picked up the mail. TWO presents for our anniversary!! Yay! *More on that later.

Then off to downtown, to register his car. I was hoping and praying it wouldn't take long (and that I could actuallly DO it without the other registration), so I dumped a handful of change in the meter, took a book with me and...

Was in and out in 5 minutes. Seriously.

Didn't need any other documentation. Didn't need the old registration. And one check - boom. Done.

Sweet! So I had time to go to the library, which was conveniently next door.

Only 6 books this time: Lisey's Story and Desperation from Stephen King, Real Food by Nina Planck, French Women Don't Get Fat and The Dish, and a book on Small Batch Canning.

This library is AWESOME! I love it.

Okay, back to the presents. Tomorrow is mine and [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills' 6th wedding anniversary, and my folks sent a $50 Amex gift card (we're totally using this for something cool.) The really cool gift?

My nana and aunt and uncle sent me a package called "A Walk Down Memory Lane." The card had a recent picture (a really good one) of the three of them in it. The envelope had a TON of old pictures from my childhood - all the way from baby pictures to college graduation. SO cool. I will be scanning some in this weekend and showing them off. I was a cute kid, let me tell you.

But isn't that COOL???

Yesterday, LJ went and randomly made some of my posts flocked and private. I was like, HUH?

I'm sorry. Maybe it's the cold but I don't quite follow the question? What other journals?

From: [identity profile] vg-ford.livejournal.com

LOL - sorry - the journals like InsaneJournal and things like that. Wordpress. Are they better/worse than LJ?

From: [identity profile] magicnoire.livejournal.com

Well, I love WordPress. I'm not familiar with the hosted service -- I know it's not as fully functional as if you were hosting it on your own website -- but it's great for blogs.

InsaneJournal is based off the same script that runs LiveJournal. The main difference, of course, is the staff, of which there is only one: Squeaky. But he's cool and very responsive to the IJ userbase, which is a breath of fresh air after the recent LJ debacles. Honestly it reminds me of the way LJ USED to be 5 or so years ago, back when you had to get an invite to be a member.

Another service my friends use is Blogger.

I mean, it depends on what you want and how you plan on using it. Like I said, I love WordPress but if LJ is all you know and have ever known in terms of blogging software, it'll be a steep learning curve. There are great tutorials about transitioning from LJ to WP available though and I'll pass them on should you be interested.

Yeah, if you could. I'm contemplating transitioning.

Thanks!

Happy Anniversary!

I love the present from nana and all. I got a slew of old photos from my mom's side of the family - we're putting together a website/ photo book.

I've pictures of my great-great-grandparents on that side. It's wonderful to have photos of six generations of family.

Obviously, you don't have to do everything they list. Just pick and choose the sorts of things you like.
