Wow. Birka was a good day for Longstrider Trading, although my fingers now hurt, and I need to practice my braiding. Who knew so many folks would pay for the chance to have their hair braided? *boggles* And I only did two little girls (who I thought would be my main target) - the rest were adult ladies who were thrilled to have someone else do their hair. I even got a request to do someone's hair for their wedding!

So we made more than enough to cover our table fee, and I have a nice wad of cash in my pocket (a good feeling). And once again, we're talking about actually making a go of this. Opening an eBay or Etsy store (we're dithering on which one, and I have to do some research) and selling the beadwork/baskets/pouches/maybe garb. I dunno. I want to do it, but it's another huge timesink. We'll see.

Got to see [livejournal.com profile] time_testudinem and her lord get their Millstones (the Stonemarche order of service) and heard that [livejournal.com profile] mossbeloved got her AoA (I have been corrected!)(although I had snuck out of Royal Court to pack up before it happened) - congrats to everyone!

[livejournal.com profile] argus7hills and I had a good time, but we were both wiped and went home early. By 10:30 pm, we were both asleep. LOL.

I've been a slug today - but now I'm getting ready to write. I need to do some big brainstorming on Seasons - I'm groping in the dark on it and need to figure out some scenes that I need.

Hey, cools. Good luck with brainstorming. I *may* be on later (I'll have Yahoo up) to start climbing those stairs.

I'll put my yahoo up then. :) I'm in FM Chat right now.

Actually, I got my AoA, right before Jenna did. Someone else said they thought I was getting a Silver Crescent as well - but nope - my AoA. Tadgh (isn't that how he spells it?) and I went up at the same time, which made me super happy. Thank you for taking notice that I went up though - a bunch of people skipped out on court - not that I blame them. It was a long day.
It was a great event and I too, am totally wiped.
Now to nap until dinnertime....
:)

Ah, sweet! Still - congrats, and I have no doubt that the Silver Crescent is coming...

eBay vs Etsy

I believe Etsy stuff is *supposed* to be all handicrafts - so I suppose it depends how much making vs reselling you might want to do. EBay, of course, doesn't care if you are making or reselling.

Re: eBay vs Etsy

For the website store, we're just thinking of the handicrafts. We don't do a LOT of resale anyways - just fans and things like that, and it's not worth it to put those on a website. But the baskets, ornaments, book covers, etc are all handmade.
