But the sun was shining today! And I have made it almost all the way through my day without reaching through the phone and strangling someone. I count that a major victory, considering how very aggravating I find Mondays.

Here's my list of things that kept me from getting myself fired today:

1. Driving in through the sunshine! I'm Soooo glad Spring is on it's way!

2. My daffodils didn't die over the weekend!

3. Baseball season opener is at 5:45 am tomorrow morning!!!

4. No soda for two weeks.

5. I hit nearly 25k this weekend on Seasons!!!

Bad news - hubby got sick yesterday, and is still sick. :( So I need to be quiet tonight, but I still need to get stuff DONE. Tonight's domestic goal - to make another lunch, make sure the dishes are all done and put away, and finally put away the clothes in my living room!!!!

Don't kill the clients. It would suck to visit you in jail. :P

Sorry that B got sick. It wasn't Deb's cooking, was it?

Tell him I said get better soon!

Awwww

Sorry to hear hubby is sick, tell him I hope he feels better soon! Is he "one of those" guys about being sick? Hope not for your sake!
How's the knee btw? Hope it's healing well.

Good job on the writing and lack of soda.

Having said that, your Dice-K has a flavor. Lolcat sez him taste like chicken.

We shall consume him, gyroball and all :)

nah, I think it's leftover ConCrud that finally wore his system down. Besides, Mom cooked, not Deb. :p

So, did you get family gossip????

Re: Awwww

Thanks! The knee is getting better - I'm off the crutches but still in the brace.

Yeah, no. :p I wrote last night (didn't post the counts) and ate breakfast then drove into work while listening to the Sox. :p

Hehehe - let's talk after the game.

I see the A's are rebuilding on the remains of Red Sox pitching, huh? Embree's steady, but we'll see how long Foulkey holds out.

Also, the Red Sox lost their opening day last year. It's not the first game that counts, it's the last. ;)

Yay, it's baseball season!!!

And dude, what's with the A's getting rid of EVERYONE????

From: [identity profile] zombiegoat.livejournal.com

I've been waiting to spew this, so bear with me.

Embree was good last year, too... should have stayed the closer. That whole "you shouldn't lose your job due to injury" should have died forever when Tom Brady supplanted Drew Bledsoe. Joe Blanton looked solid and dependable as always, but Huston Street gave away the fucking house again. That didn't take long even by his standards. The way the Giants fans here whined about Armando Benitez was lame, especially when I held up the stats that showed he and Street were virtually identical and the A's fans were mum. We should have barbecued our ex-Rookie Of The Year during the offseason when people still thought he was good.

I'd like to say the A's ownership are looking to the future and not just being cheap, but I strongly suspect it's both. Beane's rationale for trading Haren and Swisher was that we were pretty much a bottom-feeder *with* them last year, so why not get good value for hot players and look to a storming comeback two years down the road? When we open the new yard in 2012, we're going to have a shit-hot young team poised for ass-kicking.

The flip side is that we concede the division to the Angels for the next two years... and damnit, we were in the ALCS just two years ago! If we hadn't lost over 1,200 player games (a horrifying stat for any sport) due our stunning use of the DL, that team would have looked a whole lot better.

Beane always looks to the future. So much so, he forgets about the present from time to time. Having whined so disgracefully yet honestly, can we borrow Theo for a season or two? I'd like to see us "load up" rather than "reload" every year.

Rant off. MEH!

From: [identity profile] vg-ford.livejournal.com

LOL, in Theo we trust. :p Give us a few more years and then maybe we can talk. ;)

But seriously, you've got some nice young players there. I don't see you conceding too quickly. They might surprise you (and Beane).

Rich Harden threw great yesterday; I've been waiting to embrace this guy for three years now, but he can't stay off the DL. High nineties on the heater, changeup in high eighties, curve in low nineties... he's a goddamn good pitcher. One of our more frequent DL guests of last year.

Health, health, health! I like these young guys, but until I see something different on the injury front, I'm going to be somewhat pessimistic. You can only utility-player your way through The Show for so long.

Ohm and Manny was definitely being Manny last night. From the look on Harden's face, I actually felt bad for Mister Moneybags if he faced Rich again.

So, 1-1. Here we go!

LOL, yep! I'm soooo happy it's baseball season again!
