Manny Ramirez has just hit home run number 500!!!!

Sooooo exciting!

Man-Ram's high-five after the outfield catch made my week when I saw the replay. Hilarious. He's really a hell of a good ballplayer, and it's lame that this gets overshadowed by the continuing installments of "The Manny Being Manny Show" which, for the record, I think is absolutely great. Hall Of Famer? Yes. He cuts the mustard in my book.

Speaking of cutting the mustard, how about that looming showdown with... The Tampa Bay Devil Rays? (they don't get to drop the "Devil" from their name until they finish the season over .500 no matter what it says on the uniforms) It's a good thing the baseball season is six months of regular season long, because right now there's no way in hell I'd want to face them if we were starting playoff baseball tomorrow.

Regarding Ortiz... you're not going to miss him. As long as Lowell, Man-Ram, Youkilis and Varitek are upright and mobile, you've got power and bats to spare. Hate saying this, Val, but Ortiz is ridiculously overrated the last couple seasons. People should pay more attention to #20--you know, the guy who should have been playing first base in Colorado during the World Series?

We may just see you in the playoffs. here's hoping.

I dunno, re: Ortiz. You can't deny his presence in the clubhouse. But yes, if our other guys can keep stepping up, we'll be in good shape.

And I ADORE the "Manny being Manny Show!" Manny is just havin' fun out there, and it shows.

Tampa Bay - man, I want some of that water! But yeah, let's see how they do down the stretch. Good in April/May is one thing, but you gotta be good in August/Sept too.

See you in the playoffs!!!
