So far this morning, I have successfully put the laundry in the living room away and made gingersnaps. I have also:

1. put the clean laundry that I JUST pulled from the dryer into the wash (catching myself AFTER I turned the washer on, of course)
2. destroying chicken stew (don't ask)
3. nearly redecorated my kitchen with fried eggs

Yeah, lovely morning. I'm now going to attempt to clean my living room and get some other stuff together - I need to do my crits for DII and send my press kit off. And then, finally, I might write.

Argh. What a day. On the upside, I found a very weird little beginning that I entitled "Blood" - it's an odd BDSM horror novel that's intriguing me. Very different from what I usually write. I'm going to see where it takes me.

Now, onward and upward.

Can you send me a copy of the kit too? I might need it one day maybe....

It could be worse. You could have set your microwave on fire. (Beth did that a couple of weeks ago. It still emits occasional bits of burned chocolate smell now and then).

I woke up this morning with a fine inspiration for another short to submit to Torquere. This one is going to be my first attempt at a threesome - Danny, Ginny and Aran. Performing a winter solstice ritual, with predictable results. I've about 1400 words into it already. Target is the 3000-8000 word range again.

There's actually two places in their upcoming line it might fit - one is an anthology for 3somes involving magic, and the other is a line of Christmas-themed shorts.

oooh, sounds cool! *volunteers to beta-read*

I need to think about some shorts. Maybe they'll get my brain in the right frame.

Or maybe I should just admit that I think in novel terms and just go with that.

I'll send it along as soon as I've got a first draft down. I've got a pretty solid idea where it's going, so I think that'll probably happen this week. Also Beth is standing over my shoulder wanting to read it.

I think mostly in novels too. Trying to keep word count *down* is an exercise in frustration. The last 3-8K piece came in at 7,992. But on the other hand it's a good exercise in getting a feel for how many words I need for a story line.

Made a note to come back to this entry to tell you I've done *exactly* the same thing with the laundry (only we don't have a dryer, so it involved getting the line-dried laundry wet again. Arrgghhhh!

So--my sympathies to you on that one. But good news about the writing!

Ooh, that's worse! I think I would have cried if I'd done that. :P
