I have done something this year that I have not done in a few years - I have taken my birthday off. On Wednesday, instead of going to work, I am going to sleep in. Then, I will take myself out to a leisurely breakfast somewhere with good tea and a table that I can write at. I will enjoy myself immensely. I shall take a few hours to go and register my car and get it inspected, then I shall meet up with my mother and go shopping. Most likely before I go and meet Mom, I am heading out to the ocean to walk along the shore.
This year, I will be 35 years old. I am and am not where I thought I would be at 35. On the whole, I think, I am happy.
And that is a very good place to be.

This is more or less how I'm feeling about turning 30 this year.
