There are two things I adore, and it's no secret: December, and Christmas music. I listen to carols all year long - they're my favorite music to write to. I think it's because out of all the holidays in the year, my father was always home for at least part of Christmas, and that's not easy when you're in the Navy. Christmas, for my family, has never been about presents or money - it's been about family, and the time to spend together.

So this year, I thought it would be fun to do a Christmas Music Advent Calendar here on my LJ. When I was growing up, we had an enormous Advent Calendar - it was a house, and each day, Santa moved room to room until he got to the tree. I adored it. I don't have an advent calendar this year - I haven't found one I liked yet. So I'll make my own.

Today's carol is from a group I just discovered this year, although apparently they've been around since 2004. Straight No Chaser is an a capella group that is too much fun to watch. So, without further ado, here is the Christmas Can-Can.

I totally admit to enjoying Christmas music myself!

Except "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." That is one of my least favorite songs in the world. :p

They were on NH's PBS Sunday night - I LAUGHED! All through it. They're really good.

Which reminds me, I've been a very busy, very stressed out domy this year and don't have an advent story. Can you PM or email me the url for the advent calendar group? I seriously need to bow out but can't seem to find a url in any of my stuff (I've actually been looking for some time now). I haven't received any updates on the calendar either, so wasn't sure what was going on, but figure I should formally withdraw, even though it's kinda late.

I think it's died on its own, but I'll let Neko know. I haven't done mine yet either, although it's perking in my brain.

Sorry to hear. I had an idea, but I'm a slow writer/reviser and had that whole house thing occupy my time for months. Thanks for passing it along. Sorry to let you all down. It was a rather...unexpected year. lol

very cute. I like this group

Was a cute song but it itemizes a lot of the stuff I cant stand about the holidays.. Like the starting in October.
I wish i could like Xmas again.
Sadly i have grown to despise the season.

Re: very cute. I like this group

I can understand that - I know a lot of people do now. Luckily, my family's managed to keep it about family, so we can enjoy the fun parts of the season and ignore the rest.
