A Light Through the Darkness

yep, time to change the icon again. And it was COLD this morning - like, I can see my breath when I step outside cold. Bah.

Today is a momentous day - it is the final Thursday I will be working. Monday, I go to my new schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - 10 am to 8:30 pm

NO THURSDAYS. AT ALL.

I am thrilled by this. I am further thrilled by the fact that I have jeans days tomorrow AND next Friday, so I only need 3 days of dress pants next week!

Thursdays will now officially be writing/studio days. (Remicade days as well, but that's only once every 8 weeks) And then home to have dinner, a real, sit-down-at-the-table dinner, with hubby.

I cannot WAIT.

In other news, I have apparently offended the car gods and must remedy this. After the $2000 to fix the van and register it, I was driving home yesterday - and my check engine light came on (in the Escort). *sigh* My mechanic must be adoring me.

School starts for me on November 2nd - I'm taking ENGL 101. Yes, they're making me take ENGL101 and ENGL102. Eh, they'll be easy As and hey, maybe I'll learn something about writing essays.

Today is more work on TPC backstory - I'm still feeling out characters and subplots, and trying to figure out why King Dad disinherited Eldest Son in favor of Second Son (hereafter known as Our Hero). This requires more worldbuilding than I've done in a long time (space opera versus urban fantasy), so it's stretching some long-dormant writing muscles.

And I need to start working on Halloween costumes. I have to make the short tunic for me (no, not garb! I watched some of the chopsake movies this past weekend, and the heroine wears a short tunic and short pants. Easy!) and Argus' shirt and bandolero.

But a fun one. We went to jackoutofthebox and woadchic's annual Halloween party - argus7hills looked awesome, and I didn't look that bad (thanks to empath_1111's jacket!), but I don't have any pictures because I forgot the camera. *sigh* Sorry, guys.

We did play an interesting party game - bending spoons with our minds. Yup. It was neat - I actually bent the tines on my fork and started twisting the handle. woadchic is promising to post pictures on her LJ of the silverware we bent. It was fun.

Before the party, though, we went out to lunch with several friends to celebrate Baron Bil and aishabintjamil's birthdays. Morimoto's - yum! Sushi and the grill - it was amazing.

Today was exhausting. Went to fencing practice with amcnh and my friends were kind enough to point out the holes in my defense. I have bruises now on my left hand fingers (got smacked while holding my cane), both arms and one lovely one on my left breast. Fun is!

Then home - took a long bath, read a Buffy novel, made shephard's pie, baked a loaf of bread and folded 3 loads of laundry. The last load of laundry is in the dryer, and I'm trying to come up with enough enthusiasm to make chicken salad and pack the bentos for tomorrow. I also need to write, and go through the novel I'm editing so we (the author and I) can restructure it. I need to be in by noon tomorrow (bah), so we'll see how much I can get done. I need Sacrifice done and into the editor by Wednesday. However, Game 4 is on, and there is no way I'm going to bed until I know how it all ends.
