Where was I?
I was taking a day off from work and up at
jackoutofthebox's house, working on my wedding dress with the lovely Sine. They don't have cable, so we were listening to 80s rock tapes. Then
jackoutofthebox called and told us to turn on NPR.
At that time, I was living in Mass. I was up in NH.
argus7hills was working in CT, and
jackoutofthebox was working in Mass. They were talking for a while about closing the borders - we were coming up with contingency plans in case no one could get home.
I lived in a fog for a couple of days after that. I had family who lived in Manhattan - they were okay (we got through to them on Friday, I believe), but the awful, deadening feeling of just horror, pain and sadness dulled me for a few days. I'm very sensitive to emotional atmospheres - I was crying randomly for nearly three weeks.
Not good for someone who was getting married in a couple of weeks.
At our wedding,
argus7hills and I had a moment of silence for those who had perished in the 9/11 attacks. Even today, 5 years later, I get teary-eyed when I think of it.
Do I agree with Bush's war? I don't know anymore. Do I hope there is a better way? Definitely. Do I think we'll find it anytime soon? I don't know that one either.
To those who passed on, know that we will never forget you.
