Well, I went to St. Joe's today, and ended up not being admitted.
The reason for going to the hospital is that Monday marked week 3 of my current period.
Yes, week THREE.
To top it off, I'd only been done with my last period for a week. Oh, and that period? Was two weeks long.
Soooo, we needed to make sure nothing was wrong. I saw my doctor Monday, and she scheduled me for a pelvic ultrasound on Wednesday, but told me that if anything changed, I should check myself into the hospital nearest to me. I usually drive myself down to Worcester, because all of my doctors are there, but St. Joseph's is right down the road in Nashua.
Well, today I woke up feeling AWFUL. Like I had the flu - all achy and miserable. And yeah, still bleeding. So I took myself down to St. Joe's after all, and they did the ultrasound.
No tumors. No cysts. No fibroids. No endometriosis. No pregnancy.
In short, they think that my body is making too much estrogen (because I'm seriously overweight) and so they're using progesterin to "reset" my body chemistry. So the bleeding should stop within 2-3 days, and then start again as a normal period about 1 week after I stop the progesterin.
We'll see.
Sorry if I scared folks. I just didn't think everyone wanted the gory details. :)

I'm actually off the pill now and ON progesterone with no ill side effects. If you don't have a doctor that specializes in hormones, you should definitely look for one. I know it's helped me a lot.

I don't know how old you are, but is there any chance of odd periods due to peri-menopause?
I still have a period about every six months and it usually lasts about two weeks before it finally stops.
I hope the hormones help and that you feel better SOON!

I have a lot of other problems (I'm on so many meds right now that I swear I rattle as I walk) and they think it might be partially that. Oh, and I need to lose about 100lbs to be even CLOSE to a healthy weight. *sigh*
Thanks for the advice - I'm on the progesterin now and we'll see how that goes.

I'm only 32, so they don't think it's peri-menopause yet. If the progesterin doesn't work, my doc (who's also an OB/GYN) has some other tests they want to try.
They just ruled out thyroid and iron deficiency problems with the bloodwork yesterday, so we'll see.

I'm feeling a bit better this morning - the headache is FINALLY gone (love my Vicodan!) and the tummy is not quite as icky feeling. I'm heading back to work today, so that's a good thing.
Hopefully I'll be back to fencing in no time!
