Worked on the short story tonight. If I haven't explained this one yet, it's a short revolving around Shanna, Justin and Rick when they're in college.
Starting Count: 0
Ending Count: 1744
Starting line: The clock read 11:58.
Ending line: The clock was moving too slowly.
Darling: The body lay flat on what remained of its back, slowly roasting on a partially-banked bed of coals in what appeared to be a burn pit for garbage in a back yard.
and
when Shanna and Rick showed up, the smell of freshly-charred human was still hanging heavily in the air, mingling eerily with the sweet fragrance of dogwood and apple blossoms.
***
Interesting story. I need more detail in it (hey, it's a first draft, what do you want?) but it's fleshing out (no pun intended) nicely.
