I will be at StellarCon in High Point, NC, next March 14-16, 2008.

Yay! Look, I CAN do more than one con a year!

Still contemplating Balticon. Or maybe I'll lose my mind and do DragonCon.

Decisions, decisions.

Are you going??? Will we get to hang out again?

And are you going to RavenCon next year? I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm hoping to.

No, 'fraid not. Not sure about Ravencon yet. Man, the east kicked my butt. But I may be able to do some more next year. Who knows?

Well, give me a good reason/con to come out to, and I'll hit the Midwest/West Coast.

LOVE the icon, btw!

Thanks!

It's really hard for me to do the east coast largely because of the time difference. Virginia played horribly with my allergies (Colorado had me smacked down hard until I left because of all the east coast plants), and I know I was suffering because the moment I went to Tulsa, I was back in misery.

It used to not be like this. Sigh.

Somewhat on topic question: I'm curious, exactly how does one "do" these cons? Or, perhaps more appropriately, how have you become involved in them? As I said, curious.

Oh, and I don't think we'll be seeing you in the playoffs after all.

It's pretty easy - just go to the con's website, look up the Guest Liason or the Programming person, email them and say, "I'd like to be a guest at your con! I'll do panels/signings/whathaveyou." Then you tell them what you've published, or what you have coming out, and they either invite you (which usually gets you and sometimes a guest of yours into the Con free) or they say, "Thanks, but we're full up this year."

Once they've said "Join us," I start coming up with panels I'd like to do. I do stuff on horror, Baseball and Fantasy, and mythology, because those are my areas of expertise. I do signings and koffee klatches as well, because they're just fun.

And why no playoffs? You guys having issues?

Sooooo... basically, you just sort of invite/nominate yourself? Cool! I like that, you crash a party and get to hang out afterward. When (not if, he told himself) I get "Salvation" lined publisherwise, I'll remember this hint. Thanks, Val!

My team... ugh, our June swoon is continuing into August. We're double-digits back of the Angels and the Mariners just gave us our lunch regurgitated three times out of four. Injuries, injuries, injuries. Just not meant to be on the filed this year.

ick!!! Been there, done that, re: injuries. Here's hoping next year is better for you.

And yeah, basically, it's a "here's why I should be invited to the party." I flew in on Tee Morris' coattails (http://www.teemorris.com) into RavenCon, and then hooked up with the guy from StellarCon at this year's RavenCon. But seriously, you just tell them who you are and why you should be there.

I'll be at WFC in Calgary next year too (yes, must remember to get my passport lined up!); sort of near you!
