Yes, we're home early. The weather gods were not kind this year. But Pennsic was still fun.
Well, I got out early Thursday night. The plan was to have Argus drive down to Merrimack, pick me up, and we'd drive down through the night to Butler, to our hotel. Unfortunately, the alternator on the Jimmy decided to die in Concord. We got it towed to the mechanic's by 1 am, I went to Donna's for the night, and we were on the road the next morning by 10 am. NOT what we had planned, but hey.
Got to the motel at around 11 pm Friday night, checked in, discovered I didn't have my blue card (nope, still can't find it), called the best friend in the world Donna, who went BACK to work to fax me the proof of membership I needed, at 12:30 am. I loffs my Donna!
Friday morning, we were on the road by 8 am, and at Pennsic by 9. Pavilion was set up by 10, and then I ran into town to get booze, soda, a broom and various other little things. Argus went into town separately with
kuzushi and Baron Bil and went to the Goodwill store to browse - he found Pokemon cards for Ian!
The weather - SUCKED. It was tropical hot and steamy, when it wasn't thundering and lightning and pouring. NOTHING dried - it just steamed. Despite that, we stayed until Thursday night, when we came home.
I fenced in the Broken Wall battle - talk about a meatgrinder. Despite the fact that the other side was doing a bit of rhinohiding (okay, a LOT of rhinohiding) I had fun. Even though I was sick at that point and a bit grumpy, I was still having a bit of fun. Finally got up behind the castle on the field - very cool! The fencers should have a castle battle in there.
Went to the Pennsic Pirate Fleet Captain's Meeting Monday. Much rum was consumed, and I think The Scorned Lady will be joining the fleet. I just have to email Commodore Corum, since I didn't make it back to his camp.
Bought myself a teeshirt - it has a sword on it and says simply "Shut up and fight." That sort of sums up my philosophy right now.
Also bought an inkle loom. Will be working on learning card looming this winter.
The Corn Party was fun - I didn't stay very long, but I did get some corn, and then wandered back to camp. As there was a massive thunderstorm about 30 minutes after I got back to camp, I'm glad I didn't stay at Shadowclan's. :)
Some pictures later. I've got a ton of work to do on the book this weekend, so I'll be doing that. And other stuff. Did I mention I was sick?
