So, yesterday was a VERY good mail day. Got my new bento stuff in the mail, and my Princess Tutu thinpak. Watched the preview disk (oh man. I MUST have Le Chevalier D'Eon. MUST.) and started wondering what exactly was in the coffee cups some of these animators were drinking from. (I don't remember the exact name, but the one with the girl who kept repeating, "Did I mention that I'm hot?" in a true hillbilly accent? Yeah. And don't get me started on the 11-year-old teacher. 'Nuff said.)

Then, I popped the first disk of Princess Tutu in. Wow. I...wow.

This stuff is serious crack. SERIOUS. It's the Nutcracker on Acid. I've watched the first two episodes and I am hooked. I love Duck. I love Roue. And I'm not real sure about emo-boy (the prince), but I love the storyline.

[livejournal.com profile] beard5, you have to see this on Thursday. Your head will explode. It's quite possible that this is more insane than Zim.

More later.

It's such a fabulous series. And the crack actually makes sense by the end ;) As much as any anime does, anyway.

I consider it a story like Fruits Basket. If you try to explain the premise to people, they're like "WTF how is that awesome?" but when you make them watch it, they get it.

Yeah, I'm noticing that. My friend's eyes were crossing when I was trying to explain it to him.

I saw something about it on [livejournal.com profile] magicnoire's LJ, and now I have the want. I wonder if I can get Jeff to get it for me...

Jodi, you will love this series. It's about ballet, stories, writing & fairy tales. If there's an anime for you, this is it.

Oh, I love Princess Tutu. And it only gets better as the series goes on. (IMO, anyway.)

I can't wait! I stayed up until 4 am watching this morning...

Ha! Just wait until you get to the second half of the series.

(As for the hillbilly accent, I suspect the girl is actually speaking in the ultra-slangy, crazy Kansai-ben Japanese dialect... which often gets localized as southern in English. Either that or a heavy Bronx accent.)

If the manga is any indication, Le Chevalier D'Eon is the craziest crack ever.

It looks spectacular. I suspect I shall be very poor soon...

Princess Tutu is a wonderful story. It's a take on an old kids story. Let me know if you want to know which one and you've not guessed it yet.

Anyhow, the series isn't long, and for anime / manga, it's no crazier or unusual than any other.

Enjoy.

I have my suspicions as to the story. I want to watch some more episodes before I ask. :)
