Seriously. I'd forgotten how much I love writing longhand - for plotting, it's my preferred format. So today, after starting and deleting four files (yep, it takes me a while), I abandoned Puck and grabbed a notebook. Now, I have the bones of the plot summary for Snow and nearly a page and a half of notes. In about 45 minutes. And, well, it feels really good.

I'll keep writing today during the slow times, I think - although I have an afghan to work on as well. I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet, slow night.

YAY for longhand writing!! It's always fun to do that! The original version of my trilogy was written almost entirely longhand while at work, so yeah, I know the feeling well!

I hope to work on Children of Dun Corran in such a manner once the insanity of year-end (and tax season, if I'm still in that department by then--I'm trying for a position elsewhere in the company) goes by.

Thanks! I think it's working pretty good, although we've been a bit busy tonight, so we'll see. I still have to work on that afghan as well.

Interesting--all of my notes, and poems, are written in longhand. Prose is always typed, unless I'm doing flash fiction. (Longhand is good for flash fiction, as my wrist starts to hurt around 1000 words or so. :) Not because I've got carpal tunnel, but because I always try to write as fast as I type.)

I get hung up on how the page looks - I'm very anal that way. And the pen and paper are very important to me. It's weird, but it lets me see more of what I'm doing when I do it longhand, if that makes sense.

No, I can understand that perfectly. It may be the same mental process that makes it easy for me to edit a hard copy and almost impossible to edit from a computer screen.
