So, now that I'm home and paid my bills (the tax return and bonus both came in today), I indulged a little. Well, it felt like indulging, but only one thing really was.

First of all, when I found out how much we got back, I talked to the hubby and told him what I wanted to do with the return. Especially since I was getting bonus at the same time. He agreed, and this is what we did:

1. Paid off the only credit card we have.
Boom. Done. Nearly 2k, but it's DONE and gone. Very happy about this.

2. Paid the bills for the month.
Also done. All I have to pay for next week is the Comcast bill, because I'm annoyed at them, so they don't get paid this week. :p

3. Got the plane tickets and hotel for RavenCon.
Actually, that's tomorrow, on the credit card, but the money is set aside in the savings account to pay them off next month (Don't want the hotel sitting on my debit card.)

Then, the fun stuff.

4. A full starter podcasting set-up.
Specifically, this set, with these headphones. Thanks to Tee Morris for the hookup on those. I saved nearly $250 on them!!! And once they get here, look out! I'll be on the airwaves!

5. An iPod.
Yep, I splurged. Got two iPod Nanos: one for me and one for the boy. I was going to get the 4GB, then Alba pointed out the refurbished store at Apple to me. *drool* So I got two 8GB iPods that will be here in a week. I'm just going to tell the boy I got him a Nano. I want to see his face when it gets here. :D

The iPod was really the only splurge, because I can write off the podcasting equipment. There will be some good mail days coming!!!!

Congrats on the pay off and the treats! :D These are happy things :D

Agreed! Good willpower. And I always think it is smart to allow yourself a relatively small treat (like the iPods) to diffuse any feelings that by being overly virtuous you can allow yourself this that and another thing. At least, that's what I find that I do if I don't give in a little.

Definitely. And I think that's why hubby agreed with me when I went to him on how I wanted to spend it. It helps us AND we went high-quality with the treat, so we're getting something that we'll use a LOT.

Definitely. There will be a podcast and we'll be doing Horseman as an audio book as well, so my voice will be all over the podiosphere!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! i can't wait for ours to some in- it'll probably translate itself into swimming lessons for the kids, tho. Not nearly as fun as ipods and tech gear (for me, anyway)!

No, but think of the fun you and the kids will have in the pool!!!
