Today is the day! Snow will be up for sale today (I'm just waiting for the final go-ahead to post the link), and in honor of the day and the season, I'm going to give away THREE gift certificates to Lilley Press, for you to purchase Snow!

It's easy - post a comment below telling me your favorite part of the season. Is it presents? Snow? Great books? What? Everyone who posts by midnight EST on Saturday, December 6th, is entered, and I'll post the names on Sunday.

Happy Snow Day!

(oh, and cool thing? When I went out to my car this morning, it was snowing!!!)

My favorite part of the season is, wow, there are so many things. I like the spirit of the season, the fact that I'm able to find warmth and love there in spite of the situation in our country, in our world.

I love the lights and decorating and being with my kids more, too.

Is it snowing a lot there? Can we have pics for those of us who don't get snow?

As soon as we get more than flurries, I'll definitely post some!

I think my favorite thing is to come in next to the fire and warm up. There's something gratifying about a good fire after playing in the snow.

Speaking of which, snow comes in second. Not the nasty wet snow we have here in the south, but proper snow, three inches thick and cold enough not to turn to slush if you fall in it.

Also, chasing squirrels, but that's entirely different.

Oh yes! Makes me wish we had a working fireplace here.

And I'll send you snow. Lots and lots of snow. You can have it ALL. :p

You didn't tell me this contest would be HARD, Val! :P I have so many favourite parts of the season that I have no idea how to pick one.

But I'm going to say that all the preparation is my favourite part. Playing carols, baking cookies, wrapping presents, being sneaky (even though my brother almost always guesses what I've gotten him, somehow), setting up the tree and nativities. Yeah, I think that might be my favourite part of the season. :)

Hehe - not THAT hard! And yes, I love the prep too.

My favorite thing is the way some people go all out decorating their homes. Don't see much of it in my town due to HOA rules, but I get to see some by driving around the area and the internets.

Oh yes! I adore all the lights! I take the long way home so I can see them at night. :)

I really like the shopping. Figuring out what would make someonne smile or be the perfect present and finding it on sale.

Especially the angel tree at church - for the kids who wouldn't get much, but need to know that there are people who care about them, too. Even Santa :D

Ooh, yes! I love to shop! And I always do at least one star or angel from the tree.

I really like the fact I can stop everything for a few days, guilt free, and just hang out with the kids. No need to make them practice music or recite times tables, or even make their beds. It's just a free-for-all fest of board games, eggnog and new pajamas. Is there really anything better than that?

That sounds awesome! I don't have kids, but I love getting together with my family.

I have to admit I mostly don't like the season. LOL

I'm going to go with - it's peaceful and quiet, when it's warm enough to wander out in the dark, the snow absorbs the sounds of the world, and if the moon is out, you can feel like you're walking in a slightly gothic, slightly alien, underpopulated world, with room for imagination and contemplation...

That sounds awesome...

And I don't like the commercialism of the season either, but I do like wandering in the night, like you said.

hmmm.... I think I am going to have to go with the snow. I normally am not a huge fan of it but on those mornings after it has snowed and everything is covered and not yet ruined by cars and people it is so beautiful. Everything seems so serene and clear in those moments. Those are my favourite moments of the season.

Ooh, sounds wonderful!

I like the snow too - up until the day after Christmas. Then I want it warm again. :)

This year, the best part of the season is actually being excited about the holiday season. I'm not, usually. Frankly, I don't think I'd been excited about The Winter Holidays since my mom died 20 years ago. This year, though, I seem to be channeling her love of the season :)
