[Poll #1343515]

Just to satisfy my own curiosity...

Again, this is a completely nonscientific attempt to understand part of the blogoverse...

I blog, because this is the only place/only space where I can have the type of discussions that don't happen in my 'real life' -- no one here reads, much less what I read, nor cares about what I care about.

Sometimes I just want to rage about Charles Dickens, you know, without having to explain about who Dickens is.

Which can be tricky when everyone else in the house is under the age of 11 and hasn't yet encountered Dickens.

Nice to know I'm not the only one enraged by Dickens! :)

Really? Not even "A Christmas Carol"?

Wow.

Then again, my family is weird like that.... :P

Thanks for participating!

I blog mostly to keep track of all my friends back east, but I also blog as a way to practice writing. I don't do them as often as I'd like, but my Rockin' the Suburbs posts are a lot of fun when I feel like writing nonfic music related articles. :)

The primary reason I blog is to meet and interact with other writers. I enjoy meeting people, learning how they write, their views of the world.

The opportunities to network are fabulous, too.

I find blogging both cathartic and a good way to go back later and examine my life.

I like sharing bits of fiction and poetry--I like sharing my own, and I like reading other people's--and I like the community a whole lot :-)

I love reading your stuff - it's always so evocative!

I think blogging is a good way to get a thumbnail sketch of my life. My actual memoery is poor, so it's nice to go back and realize that cool things actually DO happen to me. I also like the rough overview of other people's cool lives. The celiac community is also a great place for support and recipes.

Re: Makes me think

LJ is definitely a good place to people-watch - that's one of the things I like about it too. Thanks for participating!

This started out as something I do for social reasons, and the rest got glomped onto it.

Because I enjoy it. There's a little self-promotion involved, but really, who gives a fuck what an unpublished author is doing with book #4 of his series?

It's a fun little place to spew whatever I want, plain and simple.

PS: Manny Ramirez is a dick.

I blog partly because it is a form of writing and thus good practice for me. Also I like to keep track of friends and let them keep track of me.

I blog because it's the only place I have to keep track of things. I've never kept a paper journal, or never kept it going for this long. I've had my blog since 2001, and I can go back and see what I was working on, how the garden looked, the crafts I made, etc., very easily. it's so nice.

I hate promotion-only blogs.
