My father: "You really want to be nasty with a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun? Don't put rock salt in it, that will just melt in blood in the wound. Put in pork rinds. Pork rinds swell when they hit blood and have to be cut out of the wounds."

Yes, I am TOTALLY using this in a story. I'm just not sure which one yet.

(We were looking at the guns that my uncle had brought him over and discussing how short you could saw off a 12-gauge so that it was still useable. The answer we came up with was about 3 inches after the stock, if you're interested.)

(Yes, these are common conversations in my family. Other families played I Spy - we figured out how to kill people and stash bodies while we were younger. Gotta love a family of writers/mystery readers/gamers.)

I'd say that's disturbing if it wasn't for the fact that my wife does the same thing when we're walking around town--she finds ideas for mystery novels all over the place and it makes me insanely jealous. ;)

He got some nice stuff from Tommy - you should see the little one-shot .22 that he has now. Not as nice or as old as the derringer, but still really cool.

Sigh. Can I swap out some of my relatives for yours? You have more than your share of the interesting ones.

Need to meet your Clan

Val..

Your family sounds interesting can I come and visit with them. And the shortest 12 gauge I have every seen, was about 6" and it was an over/under. Never wanted to fire it..
