Be warned. Most of this entry is not only a rant, but it's filled with female TMI.
Some of you may remember the problem I had last summer, when I ended up in the emergency room twice because my period was so heavy that I was going through a big overnight pad in about 45 minutes. This is BAD. After some doctors' appointments, they decided to try me on Seasonale, to regulate the period. This is after an ultrasound and an MRI to see about fibroids, endometriosis, or cysts. Nothing. My blood results came back normal - no hormone fluctuations, nothing. No cancer (we checked that too.)
NO reason for my uterus to be vomiting bloody chunks.
So, we tried the Seasonale. First, I had to have a normal period. This didn't happen until about March. (My period is notoriously sensitive to stress, and when my stress level goes up, it goes into hibernation.) March comes, I have normal period (about 5 days, not heavy blood levels, no chunks), so I start the Seasonale.
Good gods.
Now, the packaging said that I might have some breakthrough bleeding the first cycle, which is fine (Seasonale is the one that you take for 3 months, and you get a period 4 times a year). I could deal with spotting. Spotting is NOT what happened.
After 3 weeks, I started bleeding again. REALLY bleeding. And the chunks were back. But I gritted my teeth and continued - I could handle it, right? Because there's nothing actually WRONG that we can find.
It's now been four weeks. After 3, I realized that the Seasonale was not only doing shit-all to stop the bleeding, but it was making me absolutely psychotically angry (as in, I was contemplating murdering people at work for stupid shit that shouldn't bother me), and I wasn't writing at all. All I was doing was working, bleeding and sleeping. So, on the advice of my mother (gotta love having a pharmacist in the family), I stopped the Seasonale and called the doctor back again.
The upshot? I have an appointment on Thursday, and Mom is coming with me. She thinks the next step is probably a D&C to clean it all out, and then probably a specialist. I'm already dealing with my OB/GYN, but I guess I might see someone else? Who knows.
All I know is that I'm tired of this. I'm exhausted (most likely due to blood loss), I'm not writing, I'm missing work because I can barely stand, never mind drive, I'm connected to my heating pad and I'm BITCHY. Wicked bitchy.
Bah.
