The short answer is that it goes out of the body in a few days, but will stay in the hair for years. Hope this helps and that you didn't already read this.

Hadn't seen this particular one, but I've got a few books on poisonings here, and had come to pretty much the same conclusion. I need him getting sicker right before he's murdered - it adds to the drama. :D But thanks!
