First of all, today is OPENING DAY!!!! It's FINALLY baseball season! (And no, I really don't care that the Yankees won yesterday. Who cares? It's April. Talk to me in August.) In approximately 35 minutes, I will be parking my ass in front of the tv with my crocheting, my rum and my shrimp cocktail, and enjoying my boys of summer.

Secondly, I've had some interesting conversations about being a professional writer lately with a few folks, and I think I've finally distilled my thoughts to where I'm comfortable with them. The first thing is: this is a business. As with any business, before you can sell a product, you need product. To get product in this sense, I need to write. So I'm going to be doing some promotion on the stuff that's already out (like the fact that you can get Horseman for your Kindle right now for only $2.39!!! and you can get your first episode of Tales of the Scorned Lady here for $0.99), and I'm contemplating ideas for stuff for the freebie table at Balticon, but it's not my primary focus right now. I need more content. I need to make more product. So I'm going to be putting my head down and writing.

I've got a bit more on the honey-do list for the year so far:

- 5 more episodes of Tales to Pirate's Cove (that's the entire arc)
- edit Last Rites and send it off to DMP
- edit Spells and Swashbucklers and send it off to DMP

That's the entire paying honey-do list right now. Then there's the other honey-do list:

- finish the Horseman podcast (this WILL be finished this year)
- work on my reviews for some friends (I've wanted to get the review section of this blog going for a while, and haven't had a chance)
- fix the website
- Write the Advent Murders
- Write Faerytale Princess (which is the other book idea trying to eat my head)

So I've got a lot of stuff to do. And I want to work on some possible other projects, but I'm not ready to talk about them yet.

I hope you enjoy From Molly's Kitchen, which is going to be a weekly feature on Thursdays. Speaking of, I need to figure out what I'm going to be trying next. Molly's got quite the recipe box, so if you have any suggestions, I'm open to it! I'll be baking each recipe before it goes up, so my goal to slim down by Balticon may be derailed. Then again, I need to work on tea stuff for the Needleworker's Tea for there, so there's a reason! :D

For today, I want to do the following things:

1. Watch the Opening Day Game
2. Work on the outline for Tales
I adore 4-day weekends. Just sayin'.

Time for Snooch and Eben to come out again for a while. I adore this userpic. And since RavenCon is coming up, I thought it appropriate. (If you don't follow the adventures of Snooch and Eben, consider yourself beaten. Then get thee over to Two Lumps and catch up. Seriously? I thought everyone read them.)

Got lots to do today, so we're going back to a list. Because baby, I needs me my lists.

1. Make packing list for RavenCon.
2. Laundry!
3. Dishes!
4. Grocery shopping

5. Vacuum the living room
6. Finish setting up vg-ford.com
7. Study for midterm exam on Tuesday

I want to try and clean the porch today as well, but it's not a priority. I also want to record my first attempt at a bumper for Horseman, but the Big Game is on tonight, so I might not get there.

Yes, folks, it's here! Opening Day! At 8 pm EST, the Red Sox face off against the Evil Empire in Boston!!!!!

Woot!!!

Happy Easter, everyone!
Ignore the weather. Summer's coming.
And screw you, MLB.com and your stupid blackout rules.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] caitlindancer for this gem.

A New York family of Yankees fans heads out one Saturday to shop for the youngest boy's birthday. While in the sports shop, the son picks up a Red Sox jersey and says to his older sister, "I've decided to become a Red Sox fan and I would like this Boston jersey for my birthday."

His big sister is outraged by this and promptly whacks him upside his head and says, "Go talk to mother!"

Off goes the little lad with the jersey in hand and finds his mother.

"Mom?"

"Yes son?"

"I've decided I'm going to be a Red Sox fan and I would like this jersey for my birthday."

The mother is outraged at this, promptly whacks him around the head and says, "Go talk to your father!"

Off he goes with the Red Sox jersey in hand and finds his father.

"Dad?"

"Yes son?"

"I've decided I'm going to be a Red Sox fan and I would like this jersey for my birthday."

The father is outraged and promptly whacks his son in the back of his head and says, "No son of mine is ever going to be seen in THAT!"

About half an hour later they're all back in the car and heading towards home. The father turns to his son and says "Son, I hope you've learned something today."

The son says, "Yes, Dad, I have."

"Good, son, what is it?"

The son replies, "I've only been a Red Sox fan for an hour, and I already hate you Yankee bastards."

Or whatever it is. At least I'm finally keeping things down now. *sigh*

And even though Team Canada beat Team USA today, my two boys shone: Adam Stern for Team Canada, and my fav Jason Varitek for Team USA. Can we say "GRAND SLAM," boys and girls? Yes, yes we can.

On to other things:

I'm going to be taking over my website, so instead of going "You know, I should ask my busy webmistress to update my website" and then dither on sending her stuff, I'll be able to go "You know, I should update my website" and then dither about actually putting stuff up. :p

Off to ponder what to put up....
