Starting line: Something else was niggling at me as I wandered the halls, careful to avoid the rushing shades.
Ending line: -Sapph, come look at this,- Heather said, interrupting me. I looked up to find her opening a door towards the end of the hall. David and I joined her, and when we looked in, I groaned.
Darling: The scent was fainter than it had been at the house, but still very recognizable: acrid fear, black and blue and bruised, floating in the air around us.
