I REALLY, REALLY wish there was another cable company around here. I am SERIOUSLY thinking of switching to Dish Network - the only thing stopping me is the 1-year contract requirement.

They STILL haven't fixed my bill. STILL. And have I received a call back on it? NO. And what do I get in the meantime? Oh, well, you still have to pay what you owe us.

Get it through your heads. I DON'T OWE YOU SHIT. And now they've decided they're billing ONE MONTH AHEAD. Yeah, lovely, huh? They never mentioned THAT before.

So I wasted another 25 minutes on the phone, basically telling them that A)I'm not sending any more money than what my normal service costs, and I will send it on the 19th of the month in which it was due, and B)if they shut my cable off for non-payment, I will slap them with a lawsuit so hard their fucking heads will spin. I've got all my documentation for my payments, including the copies of the cancelled cashed fucking checks.

Another lovely thing? Their online billing system doesn't show all your payments. Isn't that lovely? You have to go to the PDF of the actual PAPER BILL to see if they actually applied any of the goddamn payments you send in, or what you're actually being charged for.

And they don't believe in call-backs, apparently. I put in a ticket on 12/10 and it's "still in research." Well, when MY COMPANY researches something, they don't LEAVE THE FUCKING CUSTOMER DANGLING, WONDERING WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!! WE ACTUALLY *GASP* CALL PEOPLE BACK AND SAY, "WE'RE STILL WORKING ON THIS, WE HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN YOU."

Fucking common courtesy is SEVERELY lacking at Comcast. I sincerely don't know how they stay in business.

And they almost made me burn my Chex Mix. That's downright sacrelegious.

Heh, you pay yours at least. I completely forgot until I got home last night to no cable and no internet :D Fortunately, I spoke with a lovely girl at Time Warner who turned it back on while I was on the phone with her.

Hope you get it worked out soon.

thanks. enjoy Time Warner while you can - Comcast bought them too from around here.

yuck. my parents have Suddenlink and they don't have any problems with them, but my sister does...so I'm not sure there is anything good in the world of cable.

There really isn't. They're all monopolies in their little areas, and they don't care.

*sigh* But I don't want to give up my Midsomer Murders, and hubby likes his Sci-Fi Channel, so we're stuck.

Cable companies just generally seem to be pretty stupid, don't they?

I'm sorry you're having trouble with yours and hope everything is fixed with your bill SOON.

Thanks. I know it's not a huge deal, but I hate having to go back and keep dealing with it.

My wife has had many problems with Comcast (and we have them now, and it seems as though the feed likes to go all wonky on every channel at about 7:40 every night).

I will say this about Dish Network--they are INFINITELY better. My wife and I had it when we lived in NJ and aside from the occasional satellite glitch (oh, and the occasional having to go out and wipe the snow off the dish during snow storms ;) ), we had absolutely NO PROBLEMS. They have an infinitely better channel selection, their customer service is nicer and more on the ball, and if you get one of the special packages, you get a whole bunch of Sirius radio stations that are equally as cool.

Oh--and the price? SO much better than Comcast.

I'd say give Comcast the boot as soon as you can...you're right, you don't need this crap.

Hmm, it's starting to sound better and better. I might have to investigate Dish Network a bit more.

Thanks for the tips!

I may have already asked you this, but do you have Verizon in your area? If so, I highly recommend Fios for internet and cable. Soooo much better than DSL or cable.

We don't have it in our area yet. *sigh* I'm waiting for it to come out.
