Saturday is Farmer's Market day, and today, they had the first apples of the season!!! Mmm, fresh Jersey Macs - so crisp and yummy, and small enough to fit in my bentos! And the new prevailing wisdom is that for fruits, you should be looking for the small ones, because the antioxidants are more concentrated, or something like that. Whatever. They're yummy.

I got a ton of stuff today:

- 4 Jersey Macs
- 1 Leek
- 1 Red Onion
- 1 Pint of Blueberries
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 bag of Red Potatoes
- 2 meat pastries (lunch for Argus and I)
- 1 jar of Apricot Pineapple Jam
- 1 dozen fresh eggs
- 1 pint Skim milk

The milk and pastries are gone already. The cucumber is getting sliced and put into the brine today ([livejournal.com profile] onyxlives, we have totally abandoned store pickles now). I'll be actually USING the zucchini and making zucchini bread before the game, and slicing up the leeks and freezing them. Tomorrow, the landlady is getting me peaches from the local farm, so I'll be making peach pie filling and canning it.

I'm also making food for the week this weekend. I've got ground turkey thawing, as well as sausage - going to make a sausage pasta bake, as well as a big pan of shephard's pie. I'll package them up individually once it's cooled, and putting them in the freezer for the week - lunch done! And since I'm working late Monday, and heading to Mom's Wednesday, it will make everything so much easier.

And those blueberries? I have pancakes on the brain for tomorrow morning. Mmmm, fresh blueberry pancakes with REAL NH Maple Syrup. Mmm, and bacon. Must have bacon.

And I can make enough pancakes for breakfast for the week too...;)

Which means I'd better get my arse in gear - I've got a lot to do today! I'll post my food list for the week later, in case folks are interested.

And yes, I'm going to putting a lot of food-stuff out in the next few weeks. That's why I'm putting a new tag in.
So, I have 3 loaves of bread baking for [livejournal.com profile] domynoe - two zucchini and one chocolate chip. Those will get wrapped in plastic wrap and frozen, then sent out Monday. I also have a sheet pan in my freezer with 1/2 cup scoops of shredded zucchini on waxed paper - when they freeze, they'll go in a freezer bag and I'll freeze another tray full. Then I will have zucchini bread with MY zucchini all winter!!! Very exciting.

I'm also eating lunch - a lovely sandwich on multigrain bread, spread with onion-dill cream cheese, thin-sliced cucumbers and slices of avocado. With apple juice to drink, because I'm trying REALLY hard to give up the soda. Really hard.

Now, it's time to start working on my paper. Bleah. I might just write today and leave that for tomorrow, when we're not going out. We have tickets to the FisherCats tonight (AA affliate of the Blue Jays) and we're going out to dinner.

More later.

Well, we were going to go to the FisherCats, but hubby is feeling wicked tired, so I'm home watching the Sox and trying very hard to not go upstairs and play WoW instead of writing. The problem with the work schedule from last week is that although my paycheck on Wednesday will be spectacular (bonus, PLUS OT), my brain is now fried. Completely. Which is not conducive to writing a 7-10 page paper on the following topic:

The Treaty of Versailles was a prime cause of the rise of the National Socialist Party in Germany.

Um, yeah, no.

So tonight, I'll be working on the Dreams rewrite and heading to bed after the game. And then I'll sleep in.

Late.

Okay, time to open the word doc and actually do something productive.

So far, he hadn’t done anything more than look at me. I didn’t know what would happen when I moved into his world, though. Would he speak to me? Attack me? Or just follow me, an accusing puppy dog? I wasn’t sure which would be worse.

Broke 10k! GO me!

Bed now.

I need an underground city.

And dinosaurs.

Eventually.
