Saturday is Farmer's Market day, and today, they had the first apples of the season!!! Mmm, fresh Jersey Macs - so crisp and yummy, and small enough to fit in my bentos! And the new prevailing wisdom is that for fruits, you should be looking for the small ones, because the antioxidants are more concentrated, or something like that. Whatever. They're yummy.

I got a ton of stuff today:

- 4 Jersey Macs
- 1 Leek
- 1 Red Onion
- 1 Pint of Blueberries
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 bag of Red Potatoes
- 2 meat pastries (lunch for Argus and I)
- 1 jar of Apricot Pineapple Jam
- 1 dozen fresh eggs
- 1 pint Skim milk

The milk and pastries are gone already. The cucumber is getting sliced and put into the brine today ([livejournal.com profile] onyxlives, we have totally abandoned store pickles now). I'll be actually USING the zucchini and making zucchini bread before the game, and slicing up the leeks and freezing them. Tomorrow, the landlady is getting me peaches from the local farm, so I'll be making peach pie filling and canning it.

I'm also making food for the week this weekend. I've got ground turkey thawing, as well as sausage - going to make a sausage pasta bake, as well as a big pan of shephard's pie. I'll package them up individually once it's cooled, and putting them in the freezer for the week - lunch done! And since I'm working late Monday, and heading to Mom's Wednesday, it will make everything so much easier.

And those blueberries? I have pancakes on the brain for tomorrow morning. Mmmm, fresh blueberry pancakes with REAL NH Maple Syrup. Mmm, and bacon. Must have bacon.

And I can make enough pancakes for breakfast for the week too...;)

Which means I'd better get my arse in gear - I've got a lot to do today! I'll post my food list for the week later, in case folks are interested.

And yes, I'm going to putting a lot of food-stuff out in the next few weeks. That's why I'm putting a new tag in.
