My folks were gone all week, so I was commuting from my house to work to their house every day - which made for very, very long hours. Today, I'm taking it easy and doing stuff around the house.

Episode 2 of Horsemen drops tonight - it's on my computer as we speak, and I'm about to listen to it. Also, I'm interviewed today on Mitchell Plested's excellent podcast "Get Published", which is a great resource for writers looking to get published. I've been listening for a while, long before I was asked to be interviewed. Go and take a listen!

To Do list for today:
- Feed the kitties
- Dishes
- Listen to the Horseman episode
- Laundry -started!
- Write 2k on Rites
- Read Chapter 8 in Criminal Law
- Cooking:
A. Dinner (honey-mustard pork loin, fruited mushroom stuffing, roasted veggies)
B. Mini Quiches for breakfast this week

C. Popcorn
D. Cut up a watermelon from the garden
E. Caprese Salad sadly, no tomatoes. but watermelon!
- Daily menus for the week

That looks good. Now, time for another cup of tea and breakfast, then time to start on the list for the day.

So now that I’ve spilled the beans on Mitchell Plested’s podcast Get Published (Interview here!), I’ll announce it here officially.

Rum and Runestones did so well that we’re doing a sequel! And this time, I’m opening it up to submissions. BUT – there are some caveats.

1. I’m looking for the following: Pirates. Magic. MUST BE ABOUT Pirates and Magic!

2. Stories must be under 8k.

3. Stories cannot be submitted before November 1st. If you submit it before November 1st, it will be deleted unread, unless I have said something to you earlier.

Stories can be submitted to val@vg-ford.com starting November 1 and ending November 30.

The title of the new book? Spells and Swashbucklers.

I’m trying to write everyday, starting today, like I said in my interview. It’s really the only way to get stuff done. Even if it means giving up sleep to do so.

Metrics from today:
Starting Count: 56934
Ending Count: 58223
Net Gain: + 1289

Starting line:
The background was another perfect New England fall evening: sugar maples glowing red and gold in the pearlescent twilight.

Ending line:
Thom turned at the familiar voice. “Domyelle?”

Darling:
Flames. There were indistinct flames moving through the house, as if they were there and yet not – almost the ghosts of flames. They licked around the stones and out of the windows of the house, a harbinger of disaster and a specter of the past, all at the same time. Smoke, or mist, curled around the house, and Nikki could almost see something in the fog – something sinister. It touched the very heart of her for some reason.

Podcast might be a bit late – but it will be up either tonight or tomorrow night. I do promise! :) Just ran into some RL stuff that delayed me a bit.
