Saw it. Still processing. Mostly enjoyed - will echo [livejournal.com profile] time_testudiem's comment about blue nudity. Seemed a bit much. I haven't read the comics, so I'm coming at it from the average Joe perspective.

Good lord, there was a LOT of blue nudity. But it was an interesting movie.

I'm coming to the conclusion that most of these graphic novels (this, Sin City, 300) are just not my cup of tea. Yes, they're gorgeous movies. But once I've seen them? No interest in seeing them again.

Although I must admit, I loved the opening sequence. That really was awesome.

Maybe more later. I think I have an ear infection and am going to go try and sleep.

Oh, and I'm declaring the rest of March a Horseman-free month. I refuse to start on Rites until April. I think I'm going to go for, as Monty Python used to say, "Something completely different."

No, I don't know what. But I'm sure I'll figure something out.

So... we saw Watchmen this weekend too. Once we were out in the car, I asked honey what he thought of it. His reply (which came very quickly): Too much blue penis! And I have to say, I agree. I wasn't over-all impressed. I was actually so bored I was ready to leave about halfway through. *shrug* Oh well. I saw. Curiosity satisfied. I felt the same way about Sin City. Now 300... that one I own and have watched numerous times. I agree with my sister that it's a chick flick in guy flick clothing... the sex scenes and few scenes with nipples are to reassure the guys they haven't gone gay...

(And in honor of blue peni, this is my icon titled 'And it was THIS big!!' which someday I might actually edit to say that.)

Yeah, I mean, I understand WHY, but dude, isn't that why airbrushing was invented?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't go "OMG, Sin City was awesome!" Because it wasn't, to me.

I did enjoy the scenery in 300, but if I had my druthers, I wouldn't watch it again.

My husband really liked Sin City. It still haunts me once in awhile. But yeah... I mean, so many of those shots could have been done with those bits and pieces covered up. The only thing I'm curious about:

Did he use a penis stand-in like Julia Roberts used a leg and arm stand-in in the beginning of PRetty Women? :)

The world may never know. :p

I think Sin City was more a guy movie, IMO. My hubby really liked it too.

Elijah Wood's character creeped me out, and I still have occasional nightmares about him.

YES!! That's it exactly!! Wow... scary. That and the chick who's the mom in Watchmen is the one who gets her arm chomped which just brought all the nightmares back to life!
