So, I was running late this morning - breakfast skipped in favor of a shower, cursing at the people in front of me on the highway, hoping that my gas gauge wouldn't hit E before I hit the parking lot. Just general craziness. I ran through the drivethrough at McDonald's and grabbed two biscuit sandwiches and a cup of tea, knowing that if I didn't eat SOMETHING, I would be killing people by 11:30 pm (my first break).

And as I was wolfing down the sandwich, I realized - this tastes awful. Greasy, nasty - it was food, but barely. And I wondered - what happened?

McDonald's used to be one of my favorite "treat" foods - especially the biscuit sandwiches. Now - well, I ate one, and the other is in my trash can. I guess I'm growing up - now I just have to start remembering that I cannot stay up until midnight doing things and be up with any time to do anything in the morning. :)

Luckily, our new cafe (it started last week) is fabulous, committed to local food and makes everything fresh. So for lunch, I'm redeeming my tummy with a taco salad (light on the sour cream and cheese, heavy on the homemade guacamole and tomatoes) and steamed broccoli in sweet chile sauce. Mmmmmmm.

They even do a farmer's market on Thursdays! They have local produce that you can buy! How cool is that????

More on food later. I'm so glad it's summer.

Hee! We went through that too - our vet suggested combining the two (we were doing dry food) and gradually just taking the cheeseburgers out.

(Total threat hijack!)

Switching the kibble wasn't too much of a problem, he'll eat any kibble I give him. But I really want to switch him to at least a partial wet food diet (I'm even considering a raw diet, but I need to get him to eat something other than kibble first), and he's just not interested in the gooshy food.

I think I may need to tough love him and take away his kibble until he eats the gooshy food but when I've tried that in the past he gets all sad and whiny and I can't take it and give him his kibble back cos I can't stand the idea of him not eating anything. *weak*

Ah!

Well, ours have never had a problem eating gooshy food - have you tried something like tuna or ham or something like that? Ours tend to prefer the texture of the shreds to the pate - they don't like the pate at all and try to bury it usually. Maybe he's just not into the texture?

He won't touch the pate at all, even if I try to mix it with kibble. I've had some luck with the chunks-in-gravy, but it's mostly licking the gravy and picking at the rest.

But hey, it's a start.

Thanks for the advice! I've been reading around the 'net as well, and I think I may be better armed to make this work now. >_>

We shall see. LOL

Mixing it with kibble might be your best bet - and the shreds work well for that. We also found that if it's not all seafood flavor, our three won't touch it - so he might not like certain parts of it.

Good luck!
