Thom accepted the glass and stared down into it, as if the crystal-clear liquid held the answers to all Diana’s questions.

ending line:
“That odd…I don’t know what to call it,” he said, and she nodded, grateful for his interpretation of her silence. You don’t need to know that it was pretending to be my father.

darling:
Not really. :( Well, not one that wasn't spoilery.

**
More plot. Diana and Thom are getting close. Yay!

I might not need some of the chapters I have - we'll see. I'm definitely getting into the climax.

She felt him cast the distortion spell even through her shields, and cast her own seeking spell, looking for the mark she’d placed on Thom’s spirit as he’d stood in the Circle.

“What happened?” she asked again, going and getting him a glass of water. “Tell me.”

darling:
“Boys are stupid,” she announced to Cleo, who had just walked out the front door.

“Well, duh,” Cleo said, holding her hand out to the black mare, who sniffed her palm delicately. “What brought that bit of wisdom out this morning?”

Yet another chapter. Now we get to see the other side of the issue. And Nikki's having issues. Writing is fun!

You didn’t tell us you had a sister, Tony. Lucifer bared his teeth as he withdrew from the Healer’s mind. What else didn’t you tell us?

Nikki looked out of the Circle at Edgar and nodded. He nodded back and raised his own arms as she turned back to Cleo. “Now we figure out where he went to ground.”

darling:
"Do not listen to her – the Evil One coats her lies in the shroud of truth, and her words are honeyed poison."

**

We have passed 80k!!! And I'm down to 8 chapters to go!

Curia tomorrow, but I'm going to try and blow out a bunch more. We're into the very beginning of the climax. Next up, Nikki and Cleo confront Thom in person. And Tony's about to have a serious accident. And...nookie!

More later.

Madness sat back, running a finger over her lips as she thought. “We can use that,” she said, and Lucifer smiled triumphantly.

But her attention was elsewhere; he sank into her memories without alerting her to his presence, and what he found there made him want to crow in triumph.

darling:
The thread led him to a small shrine, deep within a sheltered valley community that nestled behind walls of rock and religion, shutting out the outside world. The statue of a female saint huddled within a small rock garden, evergreens hiding her from prying eyes, and Lucifer paused within the World Walls, listening to the prayers of the tortured soul he sought.

More tomorrow. Going to be smart (hah!) and actually sleep tonight.
You know, this not being able to access LJ from work sucks. It puts me behind on everything!

Big news - tomorrow (June 27), we'll have another guest blogger dropping by! Kim Richards, author of Death Masks, will be dropping by to answer questions and talk about her new book as part of her blog tour this month. Check it out - it looks awesome!

More big news - I'll be a guest at Trinoc-con down in Durham, NC at the end of July (yes, I know, I said no more cons this year but hey - who am I to pass up a good time?) - I know at least one of my buddies (cough, cough, [livejournal.com profile] daveybeauchamp, cough) is somewhere in that area. Who else wants to come and hang out?

Seasons continues apace. I have a feeling I'm going to have to take Sunday and block out the world and just write. This week has sucked for writing. I'm also working on editing chapters for Elements, so I feel like I'm running in all directions.

I apologize if I haven't been keeping up with everyone here on LJ - I don't have time! :p

Oh, and more news - I got an A in my first class! Huzzah for me - I've got a 4.0!

Derek ducked, knowing that he couldn’t avoid whatever she was doing, and her magic slammed into his back, icy fingers that clutched at his heart as it picked him up and threw him out of the Summoning.

The Dark Queen stood there, surveying the room with a faintly amused smile on her pale face. Instead of flowing robes, she was dressed in knee-high black boots, skin-tight black leather pants and a red silk sleeveless tank top, but that paled beside the Power shining through her skin. The music faltered and then stopped as she stepped into the room, and from behind her, Cleo heard glass shatter as the bartender dropped something.

Above them, through the various floors of the hospitals, Mages lay in comas, their lives slipping away, drained by whatever Chaos spirit held Sylvia hostage.

Note to Derek - interfering with Nikki can be hazardous to your health, but a lot of fun for me. Just so you know.

me.

She stood in a timeless place, in thin air; beneath her lay the chasm the spell had referred to, energies boiling and churning in a never-ending river of Power. All around her, silvery-grey cords stretched as far as her eyes could see, a living web of magic with flames at nearly every juncture. Most were small, but there were four pillars of multicolored fire, much like the orb that had consumed her.

Okay, I fixed the outline. And now, I'm writing again. That's good news, right?

More tomorrow.
This is getting very old. I'm going to do the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) for the next couple of days, to give my system a break and see if that helps. If not, I'm heading back to my GI and trying something else.

I know what this is - it's a reaction to stress. I don't like my boss at work, so that's stress. I don't like the atmosphere at work, so that's stress. I'm still trying to finish Seasons, which is uber-stress.

So, anyone got any good stress remedies? *sigh* I'm going to give my system a rest, and I'm going to make a concious effort to slow down and remember to take care of myself.

Today, I am taking it easy. I'm working on fixing my outline for Seasons, doing dishes, replanting some of my plants and putting laundry away.

And pondering.

“We’re not going after him. What part of that wasn’t clear?”

darling:
Crouched in the corner of the room, still within the Walls Between the Worlds, was the giant spider he’d seen before. Sylvia’s limp soul lay in the spider’s front legs, being wrapped quickly in the sticky strands of Chaos-infused webbing, and poison dripped from her fangs.

More deaths. More arguements! More confusion.

I love it when a good story explodes in a clusterfuck. :D
Lots to do today. I've already started - 1 load of laundry folded and brunch eaten. I've got a bunch to do, so I'm posting my list so I can keep track.

Busy Sunday To-Do list:

1. Write 4k on Seasons
2. Finish laundry
3. Make burgers for dinner
4. Make beef pasta for the week
5. Make pancakes for the week

6. Make bacon for the week
7. Start my seeds

I'm breaking it up into 30-minute stretches (except for when I'm watching the game, which I'm writing through) and I'm in FM chat - feel free to stop by and say hi!
I plan on not sleeping.

Well, okay, not sleeping a lot. :)

Tomorrow is my Remicade treatment. I'm planning on sitting down there, putting my headphones on, letting them set the IV up, and then writing. And not looking up until they pull the IV out. Goal is to get four chapters written.

Goal tonight (as soon as I get home from class) is to finish the chapter I'm working on and do at least one more. I've got a lot of action coming up - I should be able to crank these out.

Saturday is shot, because I'm going to CT for my cousin's bridal shower and have been told under no uncertain circumstances that I cannot bring either the laptop or the quickpad - although I might smuggle a notebook into my bag.

Sunday is another day of writing. Just writing. Well, and walking the cat, but that's it.

If (and I stress that if) I can get a ton done tomorrow, I stand a good chance of finishing the rough draft of Seasons this weekend. I'm hopeful. Hell, I'm determined. I will finish this damn book.

And then next week? Work on Dreams and start seriously plotting Shanghai.

And maybe a short story or two.

Sleep? Sleep is for the weak. :P

Andreas remained curled up, but Kymara was waiting to kneel beside him, whispering words of encouragement as he shook in the aftermath of the Cleansing.

darling:
Her long blonde hair hung in hanks around her ashy face. The dark circles around her eyes looked as if they had been burned there, and long scratches marred not only her cheeks but tore her robes as well. Andreas didn’t look much better; the wounds that he’d carried for the last twenty-three years were gone, but new injuries took their place: bites and gouges along his ribs and stomach, staining his black robes with crusted blood.

“Don’t worry about me,” he said, dragging her from the room. Rick had pulled on jeans as well and followed them out as Justin hustled her down the stairs. “Get to Edgar’s and lay low for a day or so. And Nikki…” He grabbed her arm and pulled her back towards him, giving her a hard kiss. “Do not come after me.”

Nikki blinked at him, and he murmured against her lips, “Remember, trust no one. That means Rick. I know what I’m doing.” Then he shoved her into the pantry, where the Gate was already swirling. Edgar stood on the other side, motioning her through urgently. With one final, terrified look, Nikki turned and sprinted through, and Justin yanked the Gate shut.

And then turned to see Rick staring coolly at him.

“What do you want to know? She’s as addicted to Dr. Pepper as Rick is, she’s grumpy in the morning and she drives far too fast. Her temper isn’t the best, and she’s got a mouth like a sailor.” He took another swig of beer. “And those are her good qualities.”
