What a weekend.

[livejournal.com profile] argus7hills got his fencing qual this weekend! And we went skinny-dipping last night - it was cold, but awesome. I haven't been skinny-dipping at Harpers in a few years, so this was fun. We drank, we ate, we laughed, we cried (just a bit) - and it was good. I needed an event like this to end the summer.

Not only that, but we have 3 new members of The Scorned Lady! Welcome to Earial, Anya and Batty the Black!

Our event schedule is crowded for the next few months! We're dithering over Coronation - depends on school. But [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills will be at Williamsfaire on 10/4/08, and we're contemplating camping at Baronial Birthday on 10/11/08 - we might do a Ship's Breakfast there.

Now we're home, there's a veggie-packed quiche in the oven cooking (with veggies from our garden!) and I was very excited to find one little green heirloom tomato on my new tomato plants! I haven't killed my garden!

I'm still allergic to HFCS. Of course, now Pepsi has brought back the Lemon-Flavored Pepsi I loved. *sigh* Stupid allergies.

This week is Snow week. I'm only working OT tomorrow and I've got no classes, so I should be good. I want to hit 15k by next Sunday. I'll be bringing what I have to writer's group on Saturday, so they can see how it's coming.

Debating fencing practice on Tuesday. Definitely hitting Craft Night on Thursday.

Man, so much to do, so little time to do it.

Oh, and the Magic number? 15.
Yep, Argus and I are hosting the Sunday night potluck again - we're in our normal cabin, and we'll have the fireplace roaring! Bring stuff to share (like booze! oh, and food too) and we'll drink and sing and talk all night long.

Just a reminder. ;)
This is another call for any court business at Harpers - please email me NO LATER than 11 pm EST on THURSDAY, AUGUST 28TH at captain_hobbes at yahoo dot com.

I have no access to my home email from work, and I'm heading straight to the site from work on Friday, so if you don't get it to me by then, please grab me at the event. I'll be at Troll on Friday night and at the yard sale Saturday and Sunday - I'll be easy to find!!!

Harper's was fun, despite the drama inherent in the situation. I had a fairly restful weekend, got to judge the non-baronial bardic competition with [livejournal.com profile] macfrode and hung around with [livejournal.com profile] suelder. I finished my timeline for Seasons too! And connected with [livejournal.com profile] aislinnsca's daughter, who I hope to see on Forward Motion Writers Community soon.

Got up this morning, went back to the site and picked up my stuff (we left last night due to lack of running water onsite), then did a little grocery shopping, then came home and crashed. Hard. Got up at 7:30 pm and now am ready to work.

Tonight, I have VERY modest goals.

1. Put steak in to marinate.
2. Work on nonfiction stuff for Magic book
3. treat cold
4. Watch the Red Sox.

That's it. Period.

[livejournal.com profile] fencer2m, hope you had a happy birthday!!!! Sorry I missed it.

And [livejournal.com profile] macfrode, Baron Xavier has a song I think he'd like you to learn. I'll post it in a bit.

Yup, we're back. Yup, it poured on Sunday. But we had a blast. Harper's is a great wind-down event for [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills and I, because it's an event where we get to sit around, drink and hang out with friends. No real fighting, no real fencing: I merchant, but it's really just an excuse to show off the shiny stuff I do. Although I sold 3 copies of Horseman this weekend, so that's good!

[livejournal.com profile] argus7hills got his Millstone this weekend, too, and that was AWESOME! He had no clue! :D I was very happy to be able to keep that secret. Thanks to everyone who knew for not telling him!

Things that rocked this weekend:

1. Running up the hill from my cabin and not having to stop to catch my breath until I reached the top! Yay!

2. Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills, [livejournal.com profile] fatalrenegade, Shawn, [livejournal.com profile] amcnh, [livejournal.com profile] beard5, [livejournal.com profile] kuzushi, Baron Bil, [livejournal.com profile] dorio and Anastasia, Ekk, Eadyis, Eadric, Kelly-Jean, Kelly and Moira at the Maples Sunday night.

3. Camping with Dereca, Shawn, Maggie, Jocelyn, Mackenzie, Sam and Snuggles in the cabin - fun times!

4. Drinking Ekk under the table. :D

5. THE FEAST!!! OMG!!! (And the fact that [livejournal.com profile] argusn7hills and I were invited up to head table was NEAT! I've never sat at head table before. It's a bit disconcerting to know that everyone's watching you while you eat. And Baron Bil throwing wine/mead corks at us was fun.)

Things that didn't rock quite so much:

1. Not opening on Sunday (hmm, let's see. Beads, baskets and books - and pouring rain. Yeah, no.)

2. Not getting to spend time with everyone I wanted to. Wahhh! If I missed you, I'm sorry!

3. 2-inch thick mattresses. I think next year, we'll bring the big air mattress that splits into two singles and put those on the bunks. Over the mattresses the kiddies use (it's a 4-h camp).

But all in all, a good event. Now I need to order dinner and write, so that I can get caught up on everything. :p
