So basically, this is called shooting yourself in the foot so you don't walk the wrong way, right?

Man. Hope none of you in Texas wanted to really be married. :P

Edited to add: And you REALLY have to be amused to know that CBC (the Canadian Broadcasting Company) was reporting on it, which is where I first heard about it. Seriously.
Dear Conservatives,

Congratulations. You have affirmed once again that you believe that all pigs are created equal, but some pigs are more equal than others. I'm proud of you for sticking to your guns. However, while this is still a free nation, I'm going to tell you how disappointed I am that you can't see past someone's gender and/or sexuality. Seriously.

I'm sorry that you feel threatened by the thought of two people who love each other being able to get married. I'm sorry that you believe that teaching hate (marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman and anything else is wrong/dirty/against the law) is better than teaching love (when two people love each other, they can make a lifelong commitment called marriage and have it recognized legally in the United States). And you've reaffirmed, again, why I don't think I could ever be a conservative.

But I'm going to close this on a positive note. The vote in Maine was closer than the vote in California, and I believe it will only continue to move in the direction that this nation was actually founded on: that ALL pigs are created equal. ALL. Not some pigs more equal than others.

And to paraphrase one of my favorite heroines, conservatives: The more you tighten your grasp, the more states will slip through your fingers.

No love,

Me

*pigs comments are allusions to George Orwell's Animal Farm, before I get flamed in the comments or the blogosphere for calling people names.

NH, with 1% of precincts reporting in, has gone 67% to Obama and 33% to McCain.

It is teh suck to be sitting here at work, with NOTHING to do except write and it's SILENT. Totally quiet, except for the other people bitching that they're bored as well. I am thinking some Pandora might be in order, so I can write.

I do have metrics from yesterday, but I will be honest and say that I burned out at about 9 pm last night and went to play WoW with my hubby for an hour. We've decided that Sunday night is going to be our WoW night - we'll play together and just have a good time. Hey, it's cheaper than going out to the movies, and we'll actually be interacting, not just sitting there! I can't wait - maybe I'll actually get above 22nd level. (I know, I know, epic fail. I get bored easily, what can I say?)

I don't know if anyone else saw the interesting story in the Times about Sharia Law in Britain - I'm...intrigued, and if it's really true, a little worried. But I want to know more before I go OMGWTFBBQ?!?!?! over it.

(Here is the Sharia Court article if anyone's interested)

Edited to add: Woot! VTO approved for 7 pm! No more boredom!

Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] blue_vervain - this makes me FURIOUS. Absolutely furious. And happier than I have ever been that:

a. I graduated long before this ridiculous NCLB crap started and
b. I went to a semi-private high school, so my teachers actually cared about teaching AND got the support of the administration that they needed.

Steaming here, just steaming.
